Job Description:
DescriptionSummary / Objective The main function of this job is to keep all the extruder lines lubricated and to keep the filters changed. Changing other parts and routine work is assigned daily or weekly as needed by the maintenance manager. Essential Functions
  • Change the filters on the extruders monthly.
  • Change the A/C filters in the main building and the HR building monthly.
  • During a shut down help other maintenance staff perform preventive maintenance on the lines.
  • Picks up parts as needed by the maintenance department.
  • Help reassemble machinery when the repairs are completed.
  • Install and repair florescent lights and ballast as needed throughout the buildings or when received on a work order.
  • Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse to maintain machinery and keep work areas clear.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, gears and equipment parts according to procedures and specifications.
  • Performs outside duties as assigned by maintenance or administrative personnel.
  • You must conform with PPE requirements and Safety Rules.
PPE requirements and Safety Rules
  • Eye protection is required everywhere in the plant
  • Hearing protection is required when crossing the blue lines that are painted on the floor, heading towards the machines
  • Safety toed shoes or boots are required everywhere in the plant.
  • Cut gloves are required to be worn on the opposite hand you use to hold a knife when cutting.
  • Maximum weight allowed to be lifted by one person is 80 pounds. Anything heavier requires the aid from another person, fork lift, big joe, or roll handlers.
  • Face shields are required to be worn anytime you are over the die during start-up.
  • Each machine is equipped with multiple safety switches and devices. Although the features are not the same for each machine, they all have safety devices in place to help protect you. These include, pressure sensitive mats, light curtains, pull cords, and emergency stop buttons.
  • Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Basic Repair Skills- Should be able to perform basic repairs to equipment, such as changing filters, replacing (light or signal bulbs, gaskets, screws, etc.) Able to use simple tools: hammers, screwdrivers, drills, saws, tape measures correctly.
    • Equipment Maintenance- Performs regular checks and preventive maintenance on equipment, determining when, how, and what type of maintenance is needed.
    • Reporting Needed Repairs- Determines when equipment needs repairs and which repairs are priority and reports these to the correct maintenance personnel. This would include the ability to reason and access situations in a timely manner.
    • Reading Comprehension- Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
    • Language Skills- Can read, speak, and write English clearly and is able to relate to others in a working environment.
    • Mathematical Skills- Able to read gauges and tape measures accurately. Can perform math problems using calculators and equipment when accessing and making repairs to equipment.
    • Vehicle Operation- Must have a current driver's license and proof of insurance to operate company vehicles for errands and picking up parts for maintenance.

    • Problem Sensitivity- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. This does not mean the problem must be solved, only the ability to recognize the problem and determine the reporting procedure.
    • Arm to Hand Steadiness- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your hand or arm in one position for a short period of time.
    • Manuel Dexterity- The ability to quickly move your hands or arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
    • Visualization- The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when the parts are moved or reassembled.
    • Oral Expression- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
    • Oral Comprehension- The ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
    • Working Relationships- The ability to work with other personnel and present a professional
    attitude. Work Environment This position operates in a plant/warehouse environment. This position is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Physical Demands Lifts to 50 pounds at various times, depending on the job at hand. Reaches overhead, squats, kneels, bends, walks and stands. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position and general hours of work is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position rarely requires overtime or weekend work. Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate: (Over 2 years, up to and including 4 years.
    • Any maintenance certification or 2 or more years of work experience, a plus.
