Performs related tasks as requested. Examples of Duties Work will include a wide range of maintenance and construction operations within the department assigned. Driving trucks, both single axle, and tandem axle, transport equipment to and from various job locations.Paints and repairs fences, buildings, street signs and equipment.Performs minor building construction and building maintenance to include cleaning restrooms, locker rooms, mopping/sweeping floors, etc. if not contracted to an outside entity.Performs installation of concrete, and asphalt materials.Operates mowing equipment, paint machines, dump trucks, sewer rodding machines, tapping machines and other equipment.Operates watch valves and hydrants.Installs water line extensions, new service lines, hydrants, valves, fences, street signs, overhead signs, banners, traffic signals, playground, and park equipment.Mows/Trims grass, hauls gravel, sludge, asphalt, digs trenches, and lays sewer pipe.Performs routine maintenance of equipment.Will be called in for overtime emergencies.Unusual Working Conditions Exposure to extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold, as well as exposure to noise, dust, and fumes. Ability to work in and around traffic. Strenuous physical exertion is to be expected. Typical Qualifications High school diploma or GED is required.Experience in tasks required preferred.Valid Ohio driver's license required upon hire and must be eligible for coverage under the City's vehicle insurance provider. Commercial Driver's License Class A required within six (6) months after appointment.Voluntary certification for the operation of aerial lift truck/platforms, & forklift.Physical ability to perform all duties of the job in all types of weather with reasonable accommodation.Remain current on all certificates and licenses that are required for the position.Unusual Working Conditions Exposure to extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold, as well as exposure to noise, dust, and fumes. Ability to work in and around traffic. Strenuous physical exertion is to be expected. Supplemental Information Be able to identify and use basic hand tools: shovel, rake, broom, saw, hammer, pliers, screwdriver etc.Basic computer skills, document time and navigate through city's software program according to position.Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures involved in carpentry, minor plumbing and electric, painting, blacktop, concrete, mechanical, and/or repair and maintenance of traffic pathways as well as water and sewer lines, according to position.Ability to operate dump trucks, mowers, tractors, pavers, bucket trucks and other equipment used in tasks of position.Ability to work independently after receiving written and oral instructions.Ability to read gauges and meters accurately and to keep simple records.Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors, and the public.Other duties assigned.Health Insurance offered is a high deductible health plan (HDHP) and health savings account (HSA). Monthly premiums are paid by employees at 21%. Deductibles are $2000/$4000 (Single/Family). The City funds 75% of the deductible after successful probationary period expiration as approved by the annual budget.Dental Insurance offered through Delta Dental (employee pays 10% of monthly premium). Vision Insurance is offered through EyeMed (employee pays 10% of monthly premium). AFSCME employees follow their bargining unit agreement for dental, vision, hearing and life. Term Life Insurance is paid by the employer.Employees and Employer contribute to Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) or Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund dependent on position.Vacation/Sick Leave accrual is more than adequate.Personal Leave/Injury Leave/Funeral Leave/Sick Leave is provided based on Union or Non-Union group.Holidays (11 per year)Deferred Comp and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are offered.
