POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing restrooms & locker rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, trash pickup and removal, spill cleanup, floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y.

* Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products

* In charge of vacuuming equipment; vacuums and cleans carpets, performs further treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed

* Ensure all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies are followed as directed.

* Responsible for ensuring proper supply levels are maintained, as well as reporting all inventory and/or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.

* Interacts with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.

* Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.

* Assist and/or perform projects of a special nature.

* Must be able to read, and write legibly and in an understandable manner.

* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

* High School diploma preferred.

Experience:

* Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.

Certification(s) & Requirements:

* Any Janitorial, Custodial or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.

* CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.

* Must be 18 years of age.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

* Must be able to effectively communicate with members and YMCA staff.

* Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance

* Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

* Customer-oriented and friendly

* Prioritization and time management skills

* Working quickly without compromising quality

* Must be able to read and understand cleaning product and equipment instructions and apply them effectively.

* Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.

* Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions

* Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* Must be able to move and lift 50-75 lbs.

* Must be willing and able to climb a ladder.

* A frequent amount of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.

* May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather.
