Maintenance and Grounds Technician Full-time, Full-year or Part-Time available Hours: M-F, up to 40 hours per week Pay rate: Hourly $19:00-$22.00/hr. Depending on experience. Qualifications: - Must have general handyman skills, including painting and light maintenance of classroom and school building items. All electrical, plumbing and HVAC is contracted out but you will have oversight on scheduling and meeting with technicians. Basic troubleshooting skills are a plus.
- Must be on-time and reliable. Willing to work on the school schedule, as much of the preventative maintenance and classroom maintenance items are done over school breaks when teachers and students are not in the classroom.
- Custodial knowledge is preferred, as is the ability to provide oversight with the building management company. You will be expected to help with light custodial services for issues that need immediate attention.
- Commercial experience is preferred, but not required for the right person.
- Ability to proactively identify potential issues on the school property and with school maintenance equipment.
- Ability to work quickly and independently with a list of required work from an acting supervisor.
- Ability to maintain inventory of commonly used products and equipment.
- Must have a friendly demeanor and excellent communication skills.
- Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and willing to take tasks and prioritize items as they arise.
- Successful completion of federal and state background checks.
- Must provide past employer references.
Job Responsibilities: - Conduct routine building checks to note custodial and maintenance issues that need to be addressed.
- Conduct building maintenance and repairs in a timely fashion.
- Have knowledge of the school schedule to be able to prioritize and perform facility-related items during school breaks and ideal times of day.
- Assist building contractors and service technicians when on-site.
- Order and replace broken parts, if needed, for classroom/office items and fixtures.
- Event set-up/clean-up, as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Provide assistance delivering supplies and boxes to classrooms, offices and workrooms.
- Winter grounds maintenance, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: - To perform the duties of this position, applicants must have the ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, twist, reach, and carry, lift, pull, push between 1 - 50 lbs. Ladders used frequently and roof access required. Ability to shovel and disperse winter salt, a must.
- Use a computer, with repetitive movement of both hands. Knowledge of Google Applications and Calendar preferred, but not required.
