***Not available for visa sponsorship***Perform minor repairs in the maintenance of building systems associated with multi-craft work.Responsibilities are varied across trades including minor repairs related to sheet metal, painting, electrical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, controls, and refrigeration.Work performed must be in accordance with the Minor Repairs Performed On Campus as described in the current collective bargaining agreement with the Building Trades Council (BTC). Perform other facilitiesrelated duties, not under the jurisdiction of the BTC, as assigned.Provide logistical safety support for the Zone Facilities Managers (ZFM), General Forepersons and Forepersons, Lead Maintenance Mechanics and frontline staff. Act as a single point of contact for the FM safety manager, for Unit safety concerns and issues. Coordinate Unit safety activity and logistics under the guidance and direction of the FM safety manager and the ZFMs. This position will develop into a Competent Person for fall prevention & scaffold, confined space entry, aerial work platforms, lock/tag/verify, andelectrical safe work practices for the unqualified staff.Ours is a values-based organization where all employees are accountable for supporting the organization's values of truth, respect, excellence, teamwork, and integrity. The rate of pay is $26.89/hour. Required Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in building trades or maintenance environment (excludes personal home maintenance).Sound understanding of all aspects of maintenance and building trades and expertise in a least three areas (sheet metal, painting, electrical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, controls, refrigeration) required.Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, utilities, controls, and other support systems in a high technology environment.Ability to read and interpret shop and field drawings.Experience using computers, ability to use and learn software programs.Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, as well as excellent customer service skills.Experience working in a team environment to accomplish goals.Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.Availability to work overtime as duties require, including weekends, and possible shift work.Ability to lift and/or move 100 lbs.Ability to work in confined spaces.Ability to wear employer-provided safety equipment, such as a respirator.Must belong to the Building Trades Council (BTC) union or be able to join within 30 days after starting employment at Cornell.Familiarize yourself with Cornell's COVID-19 workplace guidance as well as the university's COVID-19 services and information.University Job Title:Maintenance AssistantJob Family:Building Trades CouncilLevel:REGPay Rate Type:HourlyPay Range:Refer to Union Pay Rates Link BelowRemote Option Availability:OnsiteCompany:EndowedContact Name:Carson LopezJob Titles and Pay Ranges:Non-Union PositionsNoted pay ranges reflect the potential pay opportunity for each job profile.
