Job Description:
Purpose: As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by supporting the maintenance team with routine and preventive maintenance tasks. This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Safe Children Coalition, Inc facilities in Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto counties. Your responsibilities will include performing minor repairs, assisting with staff work orders, responding to service requests, and maintaining functionality of equipment and systems across the facilities. Working closely with the Facilities Manager and other team members, you'll help create a safe, clean, efficient, and well-maintained environment for all employees and visitors. In this role, communication, attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of facility care are essential.   • Maintaining functionality of SCC facilities as needed, using proper products and chemicals.
  • Assists in completing all facility maintenance tasks not requiring an outside contractor/vendor. Major electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work orders will be performed by preferred vendors.
  • Replenish facility and janitorial supplies not covered by an outside vendor or between service dates, as needed.
  • Helps develop, adjust, implement, and coordinate safety standards for all facilities.
  • Drive and operate truck with trailer.
  • Conducts all facility/program moves using truck and trailer, must possess ability to move and lift heavy objects (over 100 pounds).
  • Assists with maintenance and operational organization for departments
  • Assists in developing, adjusting, implementing and coordinating complete preventive maintenance program for the facilities, equipment and SCC fleet vehicles.
  • Support and track SCC fleet/vehicles with basic maintenance and repairs of tires/ local roadside assistance.
  • Responsible for coordinating the purchase of facility supplies, in accordance with SCC policies and procedures.
  • Utilize safe working habits, reporting unsafe conditions for proper corrective action.
  • Take initiative to communicate all requests and needs of employees to management in an effort to meet the needs of SCC staff and facilities, as a whole.
  • Assists in restoring storm and weather-related damage and clean up.
  • Assist in lawn and yard maintenance tasks for SCC properties, as needed.
  • Other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Pay rate $17.00- $18.50 Requirements EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
