The Garage is responsible for maintaining all vehicles on campus, providing as-needed maintenance and repairs. We are part of the Administration & Finance division which provides essential services to our campus, local, state, federal and international customers. We are responsible for human, physical, financial and technical resources. As professionals, we navigate systems in a collaborative and sensitive way to assist the University in achieving its educational mission. The shift for this position is Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Completion of various work orders for vehicles from start to finish will be the main component of this position. The coordination of the work orders will include effective and professional communication with those who requested or need the work to be completed, including appropriate updates on the status of the work throughout the process in a professional and competent manner. Working with others (trades people, staff, students, etc.) in order to complete work orders effectively and efficiently will be necessary. The use of appropriate PPE, selecting and safely using the appropriate tools and equipment needed to complete the assigned tasks, and attending job related training will be required. Required Qualifications:
* Must be eligible for permanent appointment to this title pursuant to civil service law.
* Non-Competitive:Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
* Valid New York State driver's license
* Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Prior experience in a campus setting
Salary (Applicant View)
$41,399 - $50,884, in accordance with CSEA salary schedule.
