The primary responsibilities of the Maintenance Custodian position areto maintain the overall building and grounds by performing custodial duties, including safety, maintenance, and repair functions, under general supervision from the Retail GM.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•
- Clean, sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors by hand or machine; clean carpet, upholstery, and furniture
- Wash windows, screens, sills, woodwork, doors, desks, walls, and ceilings.•
- Orders and stocks needed materials & supplies.•
- Clean & sanitize restrooms.•
- Collects and disposes of waste and recyclable material, shovels snow, maintains outside sidewalks and fencing, and assists in keeping outside premises orderly.
- Provide maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC; may perform routine carpentry work.
- Perform some repairs and maintenance of the building, such as patching walls and doors, painting walls and trims, replacing fixtures, replacing damaged ceiling tiles, and repairing carpet.
- Mow and fertilize the lawn, plant and maintain flower beds, irrigate and maintain the irrigation system. Trim trees and spray for weeds and insects.
- Set up and take down tables and chairs for meetings and events.
- Checks & maintains fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and other safety equipment.
- Conducts safety audits on grounds to be submitted to the GM of Retail
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES•
- Experience: One year experience in custodial, building maintenance, or general labor•
- Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of cleaning and waxing compounds, heating and ventilating equipment, lawnmowers, irrigating systems,
- snow blowers, lawn and plant fertilizers and insecticides, floor buffers, and custodial equipment and basic tools utilized in building maintenance;
- considerable knowledge of maintenance and repair work; thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures in accordance with OSHA. Skills in the
- operation of a variety of hand tools.•
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills•
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and multitasking ability.•
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business.•
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.•
- Possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record following the company's insurance carrier's standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.TRAINING REQUIREMENTSThe minimum training requirements for this position in the first 90 days include:
- Ace Learning Place beginning courses.
- Helpful Ready training (if applicable)
- Propane certification (if applicable)
