Maintenance Delivery DriverGENERAL INFORMATIONTitle: Maintenance Delivery DriverDepartment: Maintenance & FacilitiesSalary Grade: Schedule AFLSA Status: Non-exemptSite/Location: Maintenance & FacilitiesReports to: Supervisor of Environmental Services Date: 9/19/2024POSITION SUMMARY Drive LCS delivery vehicles to make customer deliveries and stock pick-ups, obeying traffic laws and safety procedures. Maintain appropriate licensing, credentials, and acceptable driving record. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Completes food service orders and ensures proper, safe delivery of food items to school cafeterias.
  • Gathers discarded and surplus items from schools for disposal, recycling, or storage.
  • Fills custodial and school supply orders from the warehouse for delivery to proper schools daily. Checks to ensure correct items are being delivered and maintain records of deliveries.
  • Maintains central storage freezer/dry goods storage at the warehouse and notifies supervisor/food service of any issues with their proper storage.
  • Performs weekly inventory for food service items, custodial supplies, and warehouse stock and monitors freezer temperature daily.
  • Picks up wet/dust mops weekly. Washes, dries, and treats mop daily for delivery back to schools.
  • Notifies proper personnel of receipt of ordered items upon delivery to the warehouse.
  • Performs as a backup to interschool mail delivery.
  • Answer telephones professionally and pleasantly, assist customers, take orders, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform other responsibilities as directed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Warehouse operation experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must be able to work with little supervision in a cooperative manner with co-workers, supervisors, school administrators, and staff.
  • Ability to be trained and certified to operate fork truck and various pallet jacks.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use technology devices for inventory control and order processing.
  • Ability to operate delivery truck lift gates effectively and safely.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Daily travel between schools, LCS buildings, and local areas is required.
  • Minimal travel outside of the City of Lynchburg is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, or carry, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, or stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 10 lbs. and up to 25 lbs. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 75 lbs. Must be able to safely tolerate heat in the summer and cold in the winter.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, read, and identify numbers for accurate order filling and receiving of material. The employee is regularly required to apply sound reasoning and logic in performing daily tasks. The employee is required to be able to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and/or wire-cutting machine.OTHER DUTIES
  • Perform vehicle and/or forklift inspections as required and schedule routine or repair maintenance as needed. Maintain a presentable truck appearance, cleaning it as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining the appearance of the warehouse as needed. Clean warehouse, counter area, bathrooms, etc.
  • Work long or altered shifts in the performance and oversight of snow removal or other LCS-sponsored functions and emergencies that may affect the division.
  • Perform essential routine maintenance and repairs.
