Diagnose malfunctions in production machinery and equipment. Services, repairs, and replaces defective parts. Lubricates machinery and performs other routine maintenance on production machinery. Primary Job Responsibilities: Repair and maintain, following diagrams, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, plant machinery, and mechanical equipment specific to the operation. Analyze and diagnose production machinery and equipment malfunctions. Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by operating and repairing equipment safely and efficiently to minimize risk to personnel and damage to equipment and inventory. Maintain sanitary conditions while performing work. Calibrate and make adjustments to production machinery and equipment to improve operational capabilities using hand tools. Provide technical assistance to the production department in set-up and changeover of production equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment and document tasks performed in preventive maintenance records. Identify ways to improve production methods by observing work processes and working with line personnel. Modify machinery and equipment as directed by the Engineering Department to improve functional performance. Rebuild and install functional parts of production machinery. Collaborate with outside vendors to enhance in-house maintenance capabilities. Confer with and assist the Engineering Department in the implementation and modification of maintenance programs. Maintain and service the external components of the dust collection system. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Mechanical aptitude, including a basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical and piping systems, and the ability to identify and understand mechanical components and their relationship in a mechanism to make repairs or improvements. Knowledge of various machines, their operation, and parts; and skill in using work-related tools including their design, benefits, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety rules and precautions of various mechanical/electrical systems. Performs math operations to solve work-related problems. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems associated with work processes by applying job-specific knowledge. Ability to effectively communicate, train, and instruct new mechanics and operators, as well as work with the Engineering Dept. in developing new machinery. Ability to read and understand various setup/operational diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and manufacturing specifications as they relate to plant machinery and equipment. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to work as a productive member of a team. Ability to organize and work on multiple tasks concurrently. Must obtain forklift certification within 60 days after starting job. Prior industrial maintenance experience helpful. Individual must pass required maintenance testing and demonstrate hands on ability and or knowledge in the following areas: hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, power transmissions, lubrication, pumps, pipe rigging, mechanical maintenance, operation of shop machines, use of work-related tools, combustion, motors, schematics and print reading, basic AC and DC theory. On-site training specific to job responsibilities. Prior industrial maintenance experience preferred Equipment, Tools, Machinery Used/Operated: Tools: Various hand tools including wrenches, pliers, hammers, screw drivers, file, various power tools, saws, welding equipment, meters and measuring devices, battery charger/changer, welder (tig, stick), plasma cutter, personal computer and other technology developed that may be required to meet operational needs. Machines: Forklift, pallet jack, aerial lift, stand up Protective Clothing and Devices: Many of the job duties of these positions require you to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), if so, when and how to use this equipment will be explained to you at the time of hire. To determine ability to perform job functions where the use of a respirator is required, employees will be given a physical examination prior to performing this type of work. Maintenance with Electrical Specialty - additional duties include : Installs and repairs electrical systems, control and power distribution system components and circuits for single and three phase systems, following manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using hand tools, power tools and electrical and electronic test equipment. Plans layout, installs, maintains, repairs or replaces wiring and wires electrical fixtures, control panels, and equipment, etc. Tests and diagnoses malfunctioning systems, components, and apparatus using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools. Diagnoses, repairs or replaces faulty electrical and electronic components and circuitry in machines and equipment, that include, but is not limited to relays, switches, transformers, motors, bearings, rewires motors, positions sensing devices and electronic components such as printed circuit boards, etc., and tests components to verify repairs. Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing equipment such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, and oscilloscope. Inspects systems and electrical parts to detect hazards, defects, and need for adjustments or repair. Installs circuitry for support systems. Installs and connects power supply wiring and conduit to plant machines and equipment. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and its application as it relates to repair, installation, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems, components, units, circuitry, of plant equipment, machinery, and structures. Knowledge of and ability to use electrical specialty tools and equipment properly. Education/Training - additional qualifications needed: Individual must qualify as a maintenance mechanic. Individual must take an electrical specialty assessment and score within an acceptable level of proficiency as determined by Ramsey validation procedure and build and wire an assembly from a schematic Must demonstrate hands on ability and knowledge in the use of digital electronics, control circuits, power supplies, power distribution, use of test instruments, computers, and PLC's. Tools/Equipment/Machinery Used: Electrical specialty - additional equipment/tools include, but are not limited to the following, ohmmeter, voltmeter, oscilloscope, pipe threader, conduit bender. Maintenance with Machinist Specialty - additional duties include : Studies blueprints, drawings, machine parts, and engineering information to determine methods, materials needed, and sequence of operations to fabricate equipment and build or rebuild machinery parts. Sets up, regulates, adjusts, and operates a variety of metalworking machine tools and holding fixtures, selects cutting tools, attachments and accessories, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate, maintain, or repair plant machinery and equipment. Assembles parts into completed units and rebuild or repair subassemblies. Lays out, measures, marks, and scribes reference points on metal stock and verifies dimensions of parts using precision measuring and marking tools. Dismantles machine or equipment using hand tools or power tools, to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part; replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces part from metal stock. Measures and examines completed unit to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications and installs repaired part into machine/equipment and test operates machine/equipment to verify that malfunction has been corrected. Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair. Cuts and shapes sheet metal and heats and bends metal to specified shape. Works with the Engineering department to design, build, and test experimental parts, subassemblies and complete units. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Knowledgeable of mechanical principles and their application, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Knowledgeable of and ability to effectively use machinist tools and machines, including their repair and maintenance. Ability to read and work from fabrication drawings and schematics. Knowledgeable of design techniques and ability to identify the correct raw material needed to fabricate a product. Education/Training - additional qualifications needed: Individual must qualify as a maintenance mechanic Individual must take a machinist specialty assessment and score within an acceptable level of proficiency as determined by Ramsey validation procedure. Build a machined part on a lathe to meet shop drawing specifications. Tools/Equipment/Machinery used Machinists specialty - additional equipment include, but are not limited to, lathe, milling machine, grinder, scraper, drill press, shaper, borer, pipe threader, precision measuring and marking devices, battery charger. SQF: Has a critical role in assuring food safety and quality within the manufacturing environment by upholding food safety and regulatory policies and responsibilities. Responsible for following cGMP's Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and good housekeeping Ensure all food safety and quality records are completed accurately and timely. Follow all appropriate equipment cleaning procedures.
