Job Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of a variety of building facility and mechanical systems to include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, boilers, steam traps, pumps, valves, kitchen and laundry equipment and appliances.
Key Results and Responsibilities:
* Troubleshoot, service and repair a variety of building mechanical equipment and systems.
* Determines if various mechanical equipment and systems are within normal operating parameters with emphasis on efficient use, i.e., steam, electricity, steam heated hot water radiation loop, chilled water and DX coil air conditioning systems.
* Performs physical inspections of mechanical and building systems for proper operation; troubleshoots and repairs mechanical equipment and HVAC systems; performs adjustments to controlled variable devices, i.e., valves, motors, pumps, and dampers; informs management of issues or equipment that may need outside contractor service.
* Participate in the design, layout and installation of remodeling, repair or modification projects affecting College buildings and facilities.
* Maintain and service test and repair equipment and hand and power tools; keeps small inventory of frequently used supplies and parts.
* Ensure that proper safety precautions are followed.
* Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
* May drive vehicles to work sites and transport materials as required.
* Promote cooperation and a welcoming environment for all.
* Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team
* Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
* Valid driver's license
* 4-5 years combination of experience and education in commercial or Industrial operation and maintenance of building mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, kitchen and laundry equipment, pump rebuilding, mechanical seal installations and light welding.
* Ability to work overtime and respond to after-hour calls as necessary.
* Must show respect for differences in background, viewpoint, and needs to others.
* Must be able to become a member of Local 70 after 30 days of employment.
* This position will require a 1st Class C Boiler License.
