The Maintenance position for the Parks & Recreation Department provides labor and support for all maintenance projects as needed to include repairs, preventative maintenance, set up for events and regular cleanup/trash removal.SPECIFIC TASKS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES• Trash removal and trail maintenance within the park system • Cleaning all restrooms thoroughly • Coordinating and supervising community service tasks• General maintenance and repairs on playground equipment, bridges, shelters, structures, requiring light carpentry work with various tools • Assisting other areas with any needs, requests, or complaints• Attentive to the public/monitor inappropriate behavior and communicate with park goers when park rules are in violation• Setting up, cleaning and taking down for park events and shelter rentals• Mowing and groundskeeping• Irrigation repair• General maintenance of all city parks• Christmas light set up and take down citywide• All other duties as assignedWORKER REQUIREMENTS (education, certifications, experience, etc.)• High School diploma or GED required• Valid driver's license required• Ability to work in a team environment• Able to comprehend, retain, and carry out instructions, as well as anticipate logistics• Able to multitask• Sound knowledge of safety measures and risk management strategies• Organizational and time management skillsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS• Capable of performing physical labor, some of which can be demanding• Able to constantly stand, walk, bend, and reach for items (may be repetitive motions)• Able to lift, push/pull a weight of up to 50lbs+• Withstand exposure variable temperatures (including extreme hot/cold)• Perform job around various elements (i.e., animals, dust, and allergens)HOURS/SCHEDULINGVarying hours including evenings and weekends
