Job Type Full-time Description General Summary: This position is non-exempt and is primarily responsible for maintenance, repair and grounds work on the 100 acres of Stella Niagara including performing the tasks listed below as well as any additional duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Accountability: The general maintenance worker will be accountable to the maintenance supervisor. Essential Functions: 1. Fosters and affirms the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Francis. 2. Performs routine maintenance on building interior and exterior. 3. Works in a safe manner and recognizes unsafe situations. Take appropriate action to ensure safety of themselves and others in the building. 4. Collaborates with the maintenance team and other shared services staff in meeting the needs of the residents. 5. Maintains current and accurate documentation of all the maintenance requests. 6. Maintenance repairs include but not limited to: •General repair work. •Electrical and plumbing work. •Assistance with boiler system. •Regular pool maintenance. •Window repair • 7. Campus grounds work includes but not limited to: •Seasonal planting and pruning. •Set up outdoor furniture and store in the winter. •Installation of snow fences. •Draining of outdoor water equipment. 8. Carpentry work such as building a frame, repairing school desks, repairing window frames and dressers. 9. Painting and preparation of inside and outside walls including scraping, sanding, plastering and trim work. 10. Demonstrates knowledge of fire and safety plans and use of safety devices. 11. Adheres to the policies and procedures found in the employee handbook and procedure manuals. 12. Participate in continuing education opportunities for personal growth and development. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on campus. The noise level in some work environments can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative to those that much be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to understand work orders and facilitate directions. Able to move about the campus, transport equipment and furniture around the buildings for various events. Must be able to detect errors and identify improper documentation and signage. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours a week. Occasional evening, holiday and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. If this occurs, working hours are adjusted. Travel The position requires some local travel. Required Education and Experience: 1. High School diploma or GED 2. Maintenance experience preferred, or a willingness to learn Additional Eligibility Qualifications: 1. Possess a valid driver's license. 2. Pre-employment testing and background check may be required for this position. Salary Description $16.55 per hour
