Job Description:
Maintenance LeadWho we are looking for: We are currently searching for a Maintenance Lead to be based out of Springfield, MO. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this person will be responsible for performing the routine maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure efficient and safe production.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance Manager and Production Manager at start of each shift to establish a course of action for self and team to ensure that all work is completed efficiently.
  • Drives Safety by ensuring all Safety protocols are followed and safety measures are always in place, trains maintenance personnel on all safety protocols including proper Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
  • Ensures pre-planning and preparations are in place prior to initiating projects.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Follows routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Oversees the cleaning or lubricating of shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
  • Manages the adjustment of functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straight edges.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work and reports to immediate supervisor for accounting purposes.
  • Leads by example with a positive, professional attitude. Motivate, mentor, and help with development of less experienced technical staff.
  • Assists Maintenance Technicians on projects as needed or directed.
  • Works effectively with individuals of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, abilities, motivations, or backgrounds: making the most effective use of capabilities, insights, and ideas of all individuals.
  • Effectively communicates with production to resolve mechanical issues and coordinate projects to align with production scheduling.
  • Will be responsible for cross training and bench strength development per the guidelines set by the Maintenance Manager.
What you'll bring:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in maintenance.
  • At least 2 years manufacturing experience working with AC/DC drives and PLC.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Proficient use of welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use a multimeter.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety principles and federal/local regulations to include knowledge of OSHA regulations applicable to the manufacturing industry.
  • Must display very good organization and time management skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities.
  • Must have sounds judgment and discretional skills and be able to work with little supervision.
  • Must be able to consistently work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects.
Within 3 months, you'll:
  • Complete any required training.
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.
Within 6 months, you'll:
  • Takes initiative to identify and report problems to the Maintenance Manager and, in the absence of the Manager, effectively utilize resources to solve issues as they arise.
  • Will, in the absence of the Maintenance Manager, present effective leadership. Including, when necessary, discipline in accordance with company policies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot all equipment for mechanical or electrical problems including electrical panels, motors, and drives.
  • Supports and cultivates vendor relationships.
  • Helps order and manage all maintenance-related items and inventory.
  • Follows all safety requirements for this position and all company safety guidelines.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
