Job SummaryPlan and coordinate the work assignments and projects for the production maintenance team. Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Interviews, selects, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Identify needs for maintenance of equipment and schedule repairs as needed to keep production equipment from unnecessary downtime.
  • Coordinate facility projects, communicating effectively with all levels of management to achieve successful project results.
  • Maintain plant production equipment while preventing production downtime of equipment.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance in a proactive manner, manage immediate repair needs to maintain maximum levels of production.
  • Maintain plant infrastructure including waste collection equipment, environment equipment, compressed air, central vacuum systems, and electrical distribution.
  • Maintain all state, federal, and OSHA regulations and required permits.
  • Analyze production equipment for improvements in increased functionality.
  • Assist with equipment installations.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems; maintain knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical operations including nomenclature of all plant equipment.
  • Maintain department inventory and stock, evaluating inventory needs, vendors, and service providers to provide maximum cost savings.
  • Provide effective team leadership which includes providing supervision to all shifts; effectively communicating; serving as a positive role model to team members in the areas of safety, work ethic, and morale; providing feedback to manager regarding staffing and training of crew; motivating staff in support of department objectives and timely and effective schedules to ensure department goals are met; effectively delegating and assigning maintenance duties to team members; assisting in training as needed; and promoting the concept of working together as a team and with other departments, shifts, and crews to build continual improvement within Sheridan.
  • Continually identify, develop, and implement improvements in work processes.
  • Consistently and effectively serve as a positive role model by living Sheridan's core values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a related field or minimum of five years of maintenance and manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; programmable logic controllers and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI's); single and three phase circuits, solid state, servos, and AC/DC motors and drives; OSHA standards and equipment maintenance required.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed; to make program changes/additions; monitor machine operation to ensure machines are working properly; repair machines or systems using the needed tools; determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it; control operations of equipment or systems; use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to problem solving; and manage time and projects required.
  • Must be participative and develop a work environment in which cooperation, empowerment and teamwork among crew is the accepted norm.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and structure and content of the English language to include the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively work independently with little or no direction and follow up to complete assignments required.
  • Ability to demonstrate practical and technical knowledge of the job including an understanding of work instructions, processes, equipment, and materials to perform the job required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively complete work and required paperwork thoroughly, accurately, and neatly following established processes and procedures required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively demonstrate initiative and creativity; teamwork and cooperation; and adhere to and comply with all company and environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and work rules required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime and other shifts required.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance required.
  • Ability to learn and use company-specific computer applications and software required.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete/hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product weighing up to 100 pounds.The above is a general representation of the working conditions and physical demands typically associated with a manufacturing position.
