Maintenance Manager - $3+ Billion Manufacuring Company - Siloam Springs, AR

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the activities of Project Engineering, Maintenance, and Facilities. Incumbent is responsible for all Plant and Departmental goals, including reliability, cost reduction, waste reduction, safety, quality improvements, downtime reduction, as well as ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. In addition, this position will monitor progress towards goals and make certain that capital projects and other resources are being utilized to provide maximum benefits to the facility. Incumbent works collectively with Plant Leadership to actualize Gates vision and ensure objectives are met.

*Relocation will be provided for candidates moving: $35,000 Homeowners, $15,000 Renters.

Compensation: Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000

  • · Leadership: This job has full management responsibility for a sizeable team, including managers and professionals, including management of people, defining roles and responsibilities, planning for the department's future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes.
  • · The job analyses complex information in order to make judgements and decisions. The job must resolve problems by applying technical experience and expertise to review precedents, identify potential solutions and select the best and most viable course of action. The job has an impact on the business through responsibility for the volume, quality and timeliness of end results. The job has an impact on the business through joint influence over and responsibility for planning of resources and finance (shared with Plant Leadership Team). Manage an average of $5-10MM of capital annually. Manages the operation through the direct supervision of Department Managers, Engineering professionals, and indirectly through Team Managers and Technicians. Directly impacts the work and performance of all production/operations teams across multiples lines of business. Performance has a large impact in terms of the size of the operation (people, revenue, budget) and the influence/impact on the plant, division, and company.

Overview:

  • Team Management: Manage day-to-day activities of Maintenance department, Project Engineering, and outside building contractors. Will set goals, priorities, monitor progress, and evaluate performance of staff to ensure the maximum benefit of the resources expended. Creates an empowered environment, ensuring that the Engineering & Maintenance organization and its people understand the goals and objective of the business and that they have the resources and support to accomplish them. Establishes an environment that ensures and supports open and healthy communications.
  • CAPX Execution: Prepare and manage Capital Asset annual budget. Ensure that projects are planned properly to provide sufficient funding, review data to ensure that results are achievable, and obtain necessary approvals. Closely monitor projects to ensure they are completed as planned and that funds are utilized properly. On an ongoing basis, initiate design changes and modifications to further improve machine efficiency, to facilitate packaging design changes and cost reductions, and to expand the capability of existing equipment to handle new products.
  • Process & Program Standardization: Responsible for ensuring that all engineering and maintenance processes are completely documented (including Capital start up plans, SOPs, DOPs, and run documents), and implement any changes to these processes. Accountable for the development and implementation of effective preventive maintenance programs, along with the establishment of a proficient MRO and inventory
  • Budget Management: Creates operating budgets and capital budgets with other leadership teams members. Manage department expense budgets with appropriate accounting information and support. Participates in the business planning and budgeting process. Develops short and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies. Manages operating budget for Engineering, Facilities, and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or equivalent (8 years of experience) with 3 years specific experience
  • Prefer BA/BS degree in engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in management or supervision of maintenance function in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong and effective management and supervisory skills are required, including planning, organizing, communicating, influencing, gathering and using information, and motivating to achieve results.
  • Must be computer literate and experienced with predictive/preventive maintenance software.
  • Must be familiar with regulatory and safety codes.
  • Has a sense of urgency and excellent responsiveness.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to work with a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and work under pressure.
  • Ability and willing to work flexible hours and with changing priorities.
