Maintenance Manager - 1st Shift

Overview

Oversee the maintenance department, ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of production equipment. Responsibilities include establishing policies, supervising personnel, and managing budgets to maintain operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development: Create and enforce maintenance policies, including purchasing, training, scheduling, preventive maintenance, budgeting, and inventory control.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, evaluate, and manage maintenance staff. Handle disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and policy enforcement.
  • Vendor Coordination: Source and oversee external technicians, contractors, or equipment manufacturers as needed to support in-house mechanics.
  • Technical Support: Provide guidance to operating teams, enhance operator proficiency, and develop training programs, safety guidelines, and standard procedures.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other department managers to align maintenance activities with operational goals.
  • Equipment Management: Supervise equipment startup, diagnose issues, and perform or coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Inventory Oversight: Manage and maintain maintenance supplies and ensure timely reorder of repair parts.
  • Emergency Response: Address after-hours emergency repairs as required.
  • Safety Compliance: Uphold safe and sanitary working conditions in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7–10 years in maintenance management within high-volume processing or manufacturing, preferably in regulated industries (e.g., meat, food, pharmaceuticals).
  • Skills: Strong communication, troubleshooting, and leadership abilities.
  • Education: Associate's degree in a mechanical field or equivalent experience.

Work Environment

  • Work occurs in a plant setting with temperature extremes and proper PPE requirements.
  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Close vision for computer work is required.
