Maintenance Mechanic 12 Hour Day Shift

Purpose:
Perform diversified maintenance functions dealing with pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment. Able to do facilities repairs. Duties include obtaining the knowledge and skill to perform all Maintenance II functions and other duties as assigned. (Tool list attached) Perform all duties in a safe manner and observe company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Tooling
Learn to evaluate condition of, and change punches, dies, cavities, plugs. Repair air cylinders and learn to grind tooling.
Machine Repair and Troubleshooting
Must learn the causes of machine malfunction and repair or replace parts, i.e., sprockets, chains, rails, channels, couplings, copper tubing, hoses and fittings. Clean or replace filters for blending system and drive system. Replace bearings for blending system. Replace oven reflectors, vacuum pumps, air and vacuum tanks; clutches, grease lines, fuses, drive belts and pulleys, micro-switches. Repair and replace guards. Clean and flush chrome rolls. Replace light bulbs. Weigh fire extinguishers. Operate drill press and hand held tools and saws. Drive forklift. Operate electric hoist.
Chillers/Mold Cooling Units
Learn to troubleshoot and clean heat exchangers, belts, coils, solenoid valves, hoses and plumbing. Repair or replace pumps, and repair or replace motors.
Water System
Perform tests for hardness. Keep sensors clean. Clean and repair solenoid valves.
Air Compressors
Know when to change filters, oil and hoses.
Hydraulics
Learn to troubleshoot hydraulic systems and change filters, oil and hoses.
Electronics
Learn to analyze and repair electronic systems in plant.
Industrial Electrical
Be able to pull wires. Check and change fuses. Rebuild starters. Replace plugs and outlets 110V while increasing electrical knowledge.
Building Maintenance
Learn to replace windows, door locks, patch roof and clean sewers. Minor carpentry and some masonry, i.e., patching. Replace and clean ventilating filters and clean roof-mounted ventilators. Move furniture.
Heating/Air Conditioning
Change filters. Replace belts. Patch ductwork. Replace and adjust louvers and learn to troubleshoot systems.
Burning/Welding/Fabricating
Be able to weld and learn light brazing, and soldering.
Changeovers
Assist with all types of tooling changeovers. Assure that all gauges are working properly.
Training
Learn Maintenance II responsibilities.
Housekeeping
Maintain Clean Work Areas
Tool Crib
Basic knowledge of how to requisition parts. General knowledge of where various parts are stored.
Responsible for reporting food packaging safety problems to plant management.
In the incumbents absence these responsibilities will be transferred to another Maintenance Mechanic.
Position Requirements:
Must be trained in and follow company policies on GMP, sanitation, pre-requisite programs, chemical control and food safety plans and policies.
Must be competent to carry out food packaging safety and quality responsibilities
