Job SummaryThe Maintenance Mechanic 2 performs maintenance service and repairs in many areas, such as general electrical repairs and nurse call repairs. Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty. The position relies on guidelines and some experience and judgment to complete job and works under general supervision.

TECHNICAL TASKSKeeps supervisor informed of activities, needs, and problems.Takes proper care of tools and equipment.Performs all work in accordance with codes and good practice.Turns in all completed work orders by the end of the shift.Properly performs overhauls on pumps, steam traps, steam valves, etc.Makes rounds throughout the hospital and corrects minor maintenance deficiencies found.Recognizes, and reports, equipment that is not working properly.Reasonably completes all duties scheduled during the workday without interference to the quality of work.Regularly makes rounds of equipment rooms and observes and records gauge readings and operation condition of equipment.Periodically tests and adjusts boilers and chillers.Regularly performs repairs such as replacing worn gaskets, tightening joints, replacing defective meters.Regularly repairs beds, wheelchairs, tables, etc.Regularly unclogs drains.After normal working hours, checks patient owned electrical appliances for safety. Consults with supervisor and biomedical technicians when necessary.Regularly observes cooling towers for proper operation.Regularly performs preventive maintenance on all types of equipment to improve operation or extend the life of the equipment.Ensures that all work is documented on a work order or preventive maintenance record.CRITICAL THINKINGAssumes responsibility for own professional growth and development by attending programs, consulting with manufacturer representatives, and more experienced maintenance personnel.Regularly adjusts equipment controls to correct malfunctions found by observation or in response to signal.Regularly demonstrates ability to make moderate to complex repairs of a general maintenance nature without assistance.Regularly recognizes improper operation of equipment by observation of gauges, meters, vibration, etc.OTHER DUTIESConsistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service and Quality.Qualifications
