The hospital, located in Macclenny, was established in 1959 and is the largest state operated civil treatment facility.NORTHEAST FLORIDA STATE HOSPITAL IS A TOBACCO FREE FACILITY.TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION RESPONSES TO THE QUALIFYING QUESTIONS ARE REQUIRED AND MUST BE VERIFIABLE BASED ON YOUR SUBMITTED APPLICATION.THIS IS A MULTI-HIRE OPPORTUNITY.This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic at the Northeast Florida State Hospital. This position will collaborate with each section within the state facilities and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail oriented.Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:* This position performs mostly building repairs and small addition and renovation projects. All work shall be performed with safety and cleanliness. Safety of the people we serve shall be the most important guideline to ensure a secure, safe and comfortable environment for the people we serve and staff.* Repair buildings as instructed by supervisor.* Repair doors, locks, walls, ceilings, broken glass, etc.* Inspect and repair doors, door frames (including thresholds) door closures and locks once a month to maintain in good working condition.* This includes stair case doors.* All doors with automatic closures must close and lock automatically.* Include smoke doors in inspection & report.* Inspect and repair if necessary satellite kitchens trash room screens.* Inspect the people we serve's bedside cabinets and repair as required.* Inspect multi-floor buildings' trash and laundry chutes; repair chute doors, etc. as required.* Inspect bathrooms. Repair or replace toilet paper holders, curtain rods, toilet partitions and doors, etc., as required.* Inspect window screens, frames and glass and repair as required.* Inspect building walls (interior and exterior).
