Job Description:

SUMMARY

Responsible for preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of plant systems such as chilled water, compressed air, conveyance systems, production machines, and equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

* First and foremost, it is the responsibility of this position to understand and comply with the established safety rules and procedures, and to work with safety-first mindset.

* Perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance of forklifts.

* Interpret manufacture's technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed.

* Troubleshoot forklift problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.

* Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components.

* Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes.

* Ability to work on LP, gas and diesel systems.

* Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs.

* Reassemble forklifts and make all necessary adjustments for effective and safer operation.

* Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to work floor.

* Cleaning of equipment and other areas as required.

* Ensure work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.

* Maintain an organized and neat work area.

* Competent to complete legible service documents and logs for preventative maintenance tasks.

* Learn new technical information and techniques to stay current with changing technology.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Education/Knowledge

High school diploma and one-year higher education or three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Experience

* Three or more years of experience in a related field, including maintenance of various lift

trucks such as Hyster, Cat, Yale and Mitsubishi with lift ratings up to 12,000 lbs.

* Manufacturing, automotive, military or recent trade school graduates with applied skills.

* Solid foundation of mechanical aptitude and ability along with knowledge of industrial

electricity would be preferred.

* Able to work safely and follow company rules and procedures.

* Skills

Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

* Communication

Communicate in writing and orally with supervisors, leads, and other employees. Carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Write simple correspondence and effectively present information to maintenance and plant supervision, and other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee is also occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Eye and hearing protection is required. Hand protection is occasionally required.
