Position Summary: Without supervision, repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline industrial trucks by performing the following duties. In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assigns work and reports to Management in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
- Installs new ignition systems, changes, or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions, water pumps, hydraulic hoses, and other parts.
- Repairs shift linkages, head gaskets, brakes, universal joint bearings, radiators, and changes seals on lift cylinders.
- Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.
- Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
- Reads manufacturer's manuals and spare part books, orders replacement parts.
- Carries out complete overhaul to mobile equipment, installs new electric wiring, hydraulic hoses, valves, pumps, and cylinders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- The ability to read and write English.
- Typing and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Required Experience/Education:
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
