The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling all Ottawa Plant maintenance work and coordinating all preventive maintenance activities. The Planner works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, sharing information, ensuring the integrity of the CMMS and EAM data in the ERP system (JD Edwards). In addition, the Planner is responsible for coordinating purchasing activities as they relate to the maintenance function and ensures appropriate inventory levels are properly maintained. The Planner helps facilitate training sessions for employees to ensure they understand and comply with maintenance management best practices. To be successful in this role, the incumbent should be well versed in maintenance tools and techniques, with strong time management and organizational skills as well as the ability to maintain an impeccable attention to detail. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Develops a long-term maintenance plan as well as a weekly schedule that maximizes plant reliability and partners with Maintenance and Operations Supervisors to communicate and determine job priorities.
  • Ensures that the JDE EAM software data files are complete and current.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and reviews equipment maintenance problems with the Maintenance management team.
  • Assists in educating employees in maintenance management best practices.
  • Provides assistance as needed with inventory and purchasing functions.
  • Back fills the Maintenance Supervisor position for vacations, days off and other absences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent in engineering field. Appropriate experience in other related fields may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of front-line maintenance experience, preferred experience as a technician or supervisor.
  • Prior experience managing union personnel is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple projects and problems within a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Must be comfortable in a team environment and giving firm direction in day to day assignments to maintenance personnel. Must be willing to engage and partner with employees at all levels to ensure maintenance tasks are completed as scheduled.
  • Must have to ability to approach problems analytically based on a strong foundation of practical experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years in a planning/scheduling position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret technical journals/manuals.
  • Prior experience managing maintenance schedules other functions within EAM / CMMS and ERP systems.
  • Strong computer skills with above advanced knowledge of Microsoft software programs, specifically Excel.
  • Must be accurate and trustworthy with the ability to create and accept change.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience working with skilled trades.
  • Prior experience with JD Edwards ERP system.
