X Energy, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Program Engineer to join our Maintenance Program team. This role is responsible for leading the development and implementation of a Reliability Assurance Management (RAM) program for advanced generation nuclear platforms, with a focus on Reliability and Integrity Management (RIM) program development. The role will require expertise in ASME BPVC, In-Service Inspection (ISI), ASME Section XI, OM Code, In-service Testing (IST), and non-destructive examination (NDE). This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the plant's long-term performance, using risk-informed and performance-based approaches to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, while supporting the plant's reliability and maintenance goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Development of applicable maintenance and engineering related programs. Define, develop, and manage plant-level programmatic requirements for an advanced reactor technology. Ensure the program development and implementation support overall project development, and inform system, structure, and component design.
- Identify applicable industry Engineering and Maintenance Programs related to ASME Code compliance, In-Service Inspection (ISI) and In-Service Testing (IST) and apply design requirements through the development of programmatic governance and standards.
- Assist with identification, development, design, and/or integration of special tooling, robotics, and automated or remote maintenance platforms to support plant maintenance.
- Lead and/or participate in plant design reviews to classify plant equipment for development of a lifecycle plant asset management strategy.
- Collaborate with design engineers to incorporate maintenance requirements into the design of nuclear systems and components, ensuring ease of access and serviceability.
- Ensure all maintenance aspects of the design comply with relevant nuclear regulations and standards, including NRC and international guidelines.
- Recommend system design alterations and enhancements to improve reliability, maintainability and operation from an assembly, transportation, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and/or decommissioning perspective.
- Prepare and review detailed maintenance documentation, including procedures, manuals, and technical reports, to support the design and future operational phases.
- Collaborate in the technical oversight and direction of internal or external teams.
- Organize maintenance engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, contractors, or other groups as required.
- Collaborate in planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed phases of engineering work.
- Facilitate and assist in the assessment of customer needs and captures requirements.
- Execute engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives; utilizes conventional specification and/or Interface Control Documents and plans.
- Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
- Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
- Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
- Lead small groups of engineers or specialists to solve complex technical problems and deliver high quality maintenance work products on time and within budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.
- Typically, ten years of experience in an engineering, maintenance or operations role.
- A master's degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of two years of experience.
- A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of three years of experience.
- Previous experience at X-energy exceeding performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of advanced maintenance technologies.
- Experience in program or maintenance engineering within the nuclear sector.
- Experience with ASME Section XI, Division II and risk-informed, performance-based approaches to maintenance and inspection programs.
- Proven experience reliability related programs for complex systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and international nuclear guidelines.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience coordinating efforts across multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical documentation and compliance reports related to maintenance engineering and reliability programs.
