Job Description:
Maintenance & Reliability ManagerOur client is an oil and gas refining and renewable fuels producer with a diversified asset portfolio.Location:Coffeyville, KSSummary: Oversee and direct both the Maintenance & Reliability departments so that they work seamlessly and productively with each other and all other departments to support safe, reliable, and profitable operations. Responsible for planning, scheduling, and execution of all maintenance activities in the refinery. Responsible for evaluating mechanical/electrical/instrumentation equipment performance and making recommendations for improvements to increase reliability and minimize downtime. Recommend capital projects to achieve reliability goals. Work closely with the Turnaround department to support their planning, scheduling, and execution.Job Duties
  • Provide overall program direction for development of refinery mechanical integrity procedures and systems
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and reliability program for stationary equipment
  • Accountable for framing up sound and economically viable repair vs. replacement recommendations and updating equipment reliability strategies
  • Owns assigned equipment standards and participates in their continual improvement
  • Prepare reports of key reliability metrics and associated analysis
  • Provide technical and management guidance to inspection, engineering, and electronic data management groups
  • Develop preventative and predictive maintenance schedules, procedures, mechanical engineering maintenance metrics, and programs
  • Manage specific projects as directed by refinery management and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives as assigned
  • Assist in the investigations of operational incidents, the development of corrective and preventive actions
  • Support major equipment repairs and failure analysis in association with engineering expertise
  • Promote a culture of safety, cooperation, and communication within the departments
  • Provide monthly KPIs to local and corporate management
  • Manage and resolve PSM action items as appropriate
  • Work with the Inspection department to understand current and future equipment concerns and inspection schedules
  • Support the Reliability department in identifying and eliminating bad actors
  • Recommend reliability improvement projects (accomplished by either Maintenance or the Project department)
  • Foster an attitude of continuous improvement in the departments through training and job rotations
  • Support Maintenance, Operations, Tech Services, Capital Projects, and Turnaround departments while maintaining a focus on reliability
  • As assigned, serve as backup for other refinery staff functions
  • Regularly communicate work progress, concerns, and questions
  • Focus Maintenance and Reliability resources on priority issues to minimize downtime all while considering budgets.
  • Effective, accurate, and timely communication with internal clients, management, supervisors, and employees
  • Consistently maintain compliance with OSHA 1910.119 mechanical integrity requirements
  • Efficiently manage budget and provide accurate and timely reports
  • Motivated and knowledgeable staff
  • Equitable and timely execution of planning and associated tasks
  • Continuous enhancement of knowledge of current construction codes, applicable API standards, and enforcement of regulatory requirements
  • Regularly communicate maintenance progress, concerns, and questions
  • Quality and timely results in a driven team player

  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related field preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive refinery engineering experience
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Extensive knowledge of machinery, equipment, and associated maintenance practices
  • Understanding systems and procedures compliant with OSHA 1910.119 mechanical integrity regulations
  • Demonstrated competency addressing and handling confidential issues and materials regularly
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
  • Advanced knowledge of refinery processing
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings
  • Capability of conducting failure analysis
  • Experience in a union environment preferred
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of refinery construction codes desired
