East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Utility Plant)! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.As the Maintenance Repairman 1, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable making minor adjustments and repairs to the boilers, auxiliary equipment, and other campus systems. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Plumbing Supervisor to maintain proper steam pressure and water levels within the Boiler Plant. You will thrive in this role if you like utilizing your general maintenance work experience while assisting in keeping simple and accurate records of steam production and fuel consumption. To be successful in this role, you must be organized, an independent worker and able to juggle multiple priorities.Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Maintenance Repairman 1. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)* Perform operational procedures such as transferring online equipment (fuel-oil pumps, feed water pumps, condensate pumps, water softeners), shifting suction to fuel oil tanks, shifting boilers from fuel oil to gas, and correcting minor equipment problems.* Assist in keeping simple and accurate records of steam production and fuel consumption, control of chemical levels and impurity balance in bottom-blowing operating boilers, acid cleaning, and mechanical cleaning of all boiler and clean combustion chambers or fireboxes.* Recognize changes that indicate impending difficulties in steam generation and other campus systems.* Blow down all gauge glasses on boilers and auxiliary equipment to maintain positive and safe levels.* Inspect all operating equipment to ensure peak efficiency with proper temperatures and oil levels. Repair leaks and replace gaskets and or sight glasses.* Maintain a clean environment including boilers and surrounding areas, lines and pipes, walkways, all floors, and auxiliary equipment, and dispose of trash.* Emergency relief for the Utility Plant Operator 2, in the event of sick leave or if the leave extends beyond three (3) days, and with proper notice, the day shift MR1 will be temporarily reassigned to cover the role.* Responsible for repairing valves and piping in confined spaces and performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on various types of HVAC and heating and cooling equipment.* Oil, lubricate, adjust, and perform preventative maintenance on electric motors, pumps, fans, cabinet heaters, air handlers, unit vents, compressors, valves, and other mechanical devices and change belts, filters, and other routine repairs as instructed and assigned.* Repair and replace light switches, receptacles, and light fixtures.
