The Pennsylvania Military Museum is looking for a journey level tradesman to be part of a team dedicated to the protection and preservation of not just a museum and historic site, but also the service and sacrifice of Pennsylvania's brave men and women. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a steward of the Commonwealth's history, you will be called upon to exercise your carpentry, construction, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, trades, and grounds keeping skills on a daily basis. Under the direction of and reporting to the Facility Operations Supervisor, your service will allow the museum and historic site to remain in a constant ready state; clean, presentable, and ready for the enjoyment of thousands of visitors each year during the site's 12-month operation. Performing general and routine cleaning and maintenance of the 70-acre site, including four buildings, 30 monuments and 4 static displays, the individual filling this position will have the satisfaction of knowing their trades skills are not only appreciated but necessary to accomplish the mission. As necessary, the response to before and after hours emergency alarms is also part of ensuring the site is preserved and protected.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Some evening, weekend, and holiday work for special events and operational needs will be required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
- You must have 6 months or more experience operating and maintaining seasonal grounds maintenance equipment such mowers, string trimmers, snowplow, and snow removal equipment.
- You must have 6 months or more experience maintaining exterior landscapes, cleaning buildings, and completing routine building repairs involving but not limited to plumbing and electrical systems.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willing to work in Centre County.
- Willing to have weekends as part of your primary work schedule.
- Possess post-secondary education.
- Two or more years of experience in each of the following areas:
- Minor carpentry, construction, and metalworking projects using hand and power tools.
- Welding and brazing metals by use of arc and acetylene welders, and erecting steel for construction.
- Routine electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Routine plumbing maintenance and repairs.
Experience relating to the management of a multifaceted HVAC and Fire and Security system that utilizes automated building control systems, boiler heating system, the air handling system, the air conditioning & humidification system, and the fire suppression sprinkler system. Experience working with blueprints. Experience working with volunteers. Legal Requirements:
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
