If so, Kalamazoo Valley Community College has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for you as a Maintenance Specialist!
Job Responsibilities:
Operate the Simplex Fire Monitoring system and all peripheral devices; perform diagnostics and resolve difficulties; operate boilers, chillers and related closed loop water systems; repair and install pumps, controllers, cooling towers, pneumatic and electric valves, fans, starters and motors; and, perform preventative maintenance and physical checks of machinery.
Perform installation of high/low voltage and special electrical projects; maintain and repair panels and feeds; determine and solve problems in panels, transformers, control centers, lighting, kitchen/lab equipment; perform plumbing installation, maintenance and repair of hot water system/heaters/piping; rebuild and install heating and cooling pumps; and, determine and correct heating/cooling loops, air lines, sanitation lines, pumps and valves.
Maintain facility by performing carpentry [e.g. repairing walls, hanging doors, installing/repairing windows, install and repair door latches]; prepare areas for painting, staining and finishing; assist security as needed; operate fire system computer; and, assist grounds unit with snow removal and materials unit with deliveries as needed.
Additional Skills and Knowledge Required:
* Knowledge of commercial fire safety systems and monitoring systems.
* Knowledge of safety practices followed in maintenance work.
* Knowledge of carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, painting and HVAC.
* Skill in installing and repairing on electrical systems.
* Skill in performing building and grounds maintenance work.
* Skill in using and operating hand tools, electrical tools and machinery.
* Knowledge of building automation and programmed to logic controllers.
* Skill in reading control wiring diagrams and troubleshooting in the field.
