Maintenance Specialist - SYSTEMWIDEJob Goal: Provides assistance with the implementation of effective maintenance operations for all of Madison City School facilities. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent Experience in maintenance trades (HVAC, Electricity, Plumbing etc.) EPA Certification required or must be obtained within the first year of employment Valid Alabama driver's license Experience with various technologies (knowledge of automated building controls, etc.) FLSA Status: Non-exempt Reports To: Central Office designee assigned by the Superintendent Background Check Required: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5 ) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old. Essential Functions : Completes work orders efficiently in a timely manner. Works with other maintenance personnel on assigned tasks. Monitors energy consumption and recommends energy saving ideas at each facility. Maintains good relationships with maintenance personnel and other school employees. Maintains a working relationship with vendors that supply maintenance operations. Performs tasks with the safety of students as a priority. Utilizes power tools and keeps a tool and equipment inventory. Complies with reporting procedures; written and/or electronic reports. Lifts (approximately 75-100 pounds), climbs (approximately 40-50 feet). Works with confidence and safety on various voltages. Operates district or personal vehicles responsibly. Drives and maneuvers lifts or other assistive equipment. Performs diagnostics and maintenance on mechanical devices, large machines, and food service equipment. Ensures that facilities follow federal and state regulations for Fire and Safety. Communicates effectively, oral and written. Demonstrates computer skills. Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment as may be assigned. This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools. Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30. Expected Employment: 240 days/8 hrs. (full year) Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines. Salary: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
