Job Description:

Fenner Dunlop is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Maintenance Supervisor to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Toledo, OH. In this role, you will oversee the maintenance team, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of production equipment to support efficient and continuous operations. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards.

What You'll Do

Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan for the factory, including preventive and predictive maintenance schedules
  • Develop and manage a maintenance budget that controls and plans for expenses and ensures cost-effective maintenance practices
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production
  • Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance services or repairs
  • Ensure quality and cost-effectiveness of contracted work
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of production equipment
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to diagnose and address maintenance, facility, and equipment issues promptly
  • Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure
  • Coordinate and perform complex repairs or replacement of components
  • Manage an inventory of spare parts and necessary supplies
  • Ensure the availability of critical spare parts to minimize downtime
  • Monitor and maintain daily maintenance goals
  • Communicate maintenance goals to employees daily at the start of their shift
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
  • Generate reports and maintenance logs for auditing and analysis
  • Prepare regular maintenance performance reports, including but not limited to, maintenance status, issues, and performance metrics
  • Coordinate shift overlap of maintenance information with other supervisors and production management.
  • Ensure proper and safe functioning of equipment and tools
  • Ensure the completion of work orders to maintenance for required repairs.
  • Arrange for and maintain supply of fuel, electricity, and water

Team Management:

  • Create and nurture a positive and collaborative team culture
  • Encourage open communication, cooperation, and respect among team members
  • Recognize and reward individual and team achievements
  • Address conflicts and challenges within the team promptly and professionally to maintain a harmonious work environment
  • Collaborate with the team to identify process inefficiencies and areas for improvement

  • Seek solutions and foster a positive resolution-oriented approach

Training and Performance Management:

  • Establish performance objectives and expectations
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for skill development
  • Identify key areas for cross-training opportunities and assess skill gaps
  • Cross-train employees to enhance their skills, versatility, and productivity across various machines
  • Maintain records of training activities, including attendance, progress, and completion
  • Hold employees accountable by providing regular performance feedback and conduct constructive performance reviews and corrective actions
  • Manage employees' hours to minimize overtime and review their hours worked and attendance via computer entry

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed and proper PPE usage
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and participate in the Safety Program
  • Enter Hazard ID's and complete assigned action items
  • Review and modify Task Safety Analysis and train employees on revisions
  • Monitor and ensure a clean production floor to prevent hazards
  • Ensure employees are performing work safely throughout their shift
  • Foster and promote a daily culture of safety
  • Report any safety concerns to management

Quality Control & 5S:

  • Ensure equipment is inspected daily so that quality control standards are met, and ensure inspection forms are completed accurately and timely
  • Assist in developing quality control guidelines
  • Train and educate employees on 5S principles and ensure adherence
  • Conduct regular 5S audits and assessments, taking corrective actions as needed
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and ownership of 5S principles
  • Maintain a clean and safe production floor
  • Inspect production to meet quality standards
  • Report non-conforming conditions and issue deviations
  • Root Cause/Analyze quality defects and implement countermeasures

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work off shifts, as needed, including afternoon and night shifts
  • Daily expectation is to overlap with an off shift for a minimum of an hour and work schedule may be modified or changed at any time at management's sole discretion
  • Work collaboratively with managers to implement the company's policies and goals
  • Professional behavior is required during working hours, while on customer sites, and while traveling for business
  • Perform other tasks deemed necessary by plant management

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 3+ years of manufacturing/maintenance supervision in a factory setting
  • Strong technical knowledge of machinery and equipment maintenance
  • Proven leadership with effective team management
  • Proven track record of fostering a positive team attitude
  • Strong understanding of safety and quality regulations
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent positive communication and organizational skills
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
  • Proficient in ERP systems and computer skills
