Element Resources operates one of the leading Battery Recycling facilities in the country and has been a mainstay in the Muncie community for over 30 years. Element provides an essential supply of recycled products to America's battery manufacturers to produce high quality, top performing batteries to power cars, trucks and forklifts, which are vital to keeping our country's supply chain running.
This position will be responsible for the daily supervision and workflow planning of plant maintenance projects and personnel. Qualified candidate must be a self starter with proven leadership and communication skills. Duties will include, but not be limited to: Supervision of Element hourly and salary employees, and outside contractors in the completion of environmental, facility, and process improvement projects. Successful candidates will possess the ability to work with individuals from varied backgrounds, skills, and education levels to complete projects in an efficient and organized manner.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of Hourly Maintenance Employees, as well as union and non- union contractors.
- Complete daily routine checklist.
- Schedule and provide direction to hourly and contract personnel.
- Manage hourly maintenance staff attendance and payroll activities.
- Work with Production Supervisors to plan and implement project activities involving internal maintenance.
- Integrate projects and assignments with other departments.
- Work with Lean Department on Kaizen events.
- Manage the PDM, PM and breakdown repairs of plant process and auxiliary equipment.
- Available for calls 24 hours a day, may work off shifts, and weekends.
- Complete work order documentation and manage work orders in CMMS
- Assist in the development of detailed outage plans
- Responsible for insuring maintenance employees follow Blood Lead Reduction, lockout, mobile equipment, NFPA 70E, crane/rigging, and all other applicable safety policies.
- Audit daily maintenance activities, including completion and usage of Safe Work, Hot Work and other safety related work permits.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two year technical degree or equivalent in experience.
- Demonstrate 4 years experience working in a progressive maintenance organization with prior supervisory experience.
- Demonstrate an understanding of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, FMEA's, RCFA's, and autonomous maintenance.
- Capable of operating CMMS software programs, experience with MP2 a plus.
- Able to read and understand technical information and create maintenance activities to service equipment.
- AutoCAD experience a plus and must be able to use Drawing View.
- Proficient with MS Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word).
- Experience with Toyota Production Systems, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma Certification a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate in response to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read industrial drawings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the maintenance supervisor will be provided all of the necessary PPE for working in an environment where exposer to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme heat and humidity will occur.
- 35% of the work day will be in an office setting.
- 65% of the work day will be in the operating areas of the facility.
- Noise levels in areas of the manufacturing facility may be above 85db.
- Full face respirators are required inside the manufacturing facility.
- Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
