JOB SUMMARY:
While upholding Hoyt's Policies and Mission and Values Statements, the Maintenance Tech A is primarily responsible for assisting Manufacturing Engineering staff in machine and process design and build activities. In addition, this person is also responsible for servicing major equipment breakdowns and may be used to install new utility lines (electrical, plumbing, natural gas, water, phones, etc.).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Mechanical Responsibilities: The Maintenance Tech A assists in the design, analysis and building of equipment and machinery, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Manufacturing Engineering staff. This includes:
Major Equipment Servicing Responsibilities: The maintenance Tech A is also responsible to keep all major pieces of machinery and equipment running. This includes:
Minor Equipment and Facility Service Responsibilities: The Maintenance Tech A will also perform equipment, process and facility maintenance tasks as assigned, or needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
Responsible for general housekeeping of the shop area; works all scheduled hours up to seven days a week including overtime; maintains good attendance; adheres to all safety policies, procedures and rules; adheres to the company's Tobacco Free policy; and performs other duties as assigned by top management.

Decision Making and Problem Solving:
The Maintenance Tech A is responsible for decision-making related to the completion of projects and work assignments to resolve problems in a timely and cost-effective manner, with minimal interruption to production. Must be able to determine when a project or assignment is outside the scope of individual's ability in order to source outside help.
Interaction with Others:
This position requires interacting with all levels of employees, ranging from the president to operators on the production floor. In addition, the Maintenance Tech A interacts with outside vendors.

Education:
Associate degree, completion of a related trade school program, or equivalent experience.
Required Prior Work Experience:

Major Equipment and Machine servicing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment 2-3 years
Basic carpentry 1 year

Working Environment:
Physical Environment:
The time spent in the production area involves working with potentially hazardous manufacturing operations, equipment, machine tools, hand tools, dust and varying noise levels. In addition, safety hazards exist from working with electricity, metal shavings, and chemicals. Must be able to climb ladders and work at extremely high levels. Must enter confined spaces to examine and recommend actions to be taken.
Mental Pressure:
Constant concentration to solve logic problems coupled with frequent interruptions and noise make a difficult working environment. Machine breakdowns must be fixed as quickly as possible so as not to interrupt production. This can create a stressful environment.
