Here at Broadwind we Think Big on all levels. Our Abilene, TX location is searching for Maintenance Technician II's to join our growing team! In this role, the Maintenance Tech II performs preventative maintenance and repair of machines, equipment and facilities to ensure production needs are met. It is critical to have flexibility of hours and the ability to adjust shifts accordingly. We have THREE OPENINGS - 2 openings on A Shift which is 6 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday, and 1 opening on C Shift which is 6 am to 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. C Shift position comes with a $4.50/hr shift diff.RequirementsEducation and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years experience specifically related to equipment maintenance to include an understanding of electrical required.
- 2 years of welding experience or, completion of an accredited two year welder's training program is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality, raw materials and other techniques, methods and tools involved in the process of fabricating steel support structures is desired.
- Experience in a production environment with the pressures of knowing maintenance directly impacts the operation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve basic mechanical and electrical issues.
- Understanding of and extensive ability to read blue prints.
- Ability to efficiently and independently operate most yard equipment.
- Ability to properly utilize power tools such as drill press, welder, iron work, cutting torches and other miscellaneous hand tools.
- Able to locate and reference all work instructions pertaining to current job or project.
- Sense of urgency and accountability.
- Must be forklift and aerial lift certified. Can be trained on the job.

The employee must have the ability to keep hands and arms steady; must have the ability to quickly move and must be able to grasp with two hands; must have the ability to use the abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing. The employee may occasionally lift and or move up to 80 pounds or more with assistance.Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a factory production work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to or works near moving mechanical parts; change in indoor climate conditions and vibration.
