SUMMARY
TheMaintenance Technicianposition focuses on the set up and operation of a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts. Fabricate and modify parts to maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The position is critical in support of production needs through installing, repairing, replacing and maintaining a wide variety of electro-mechanical equipment, fixtures and systems.
Work includes performing basic to advance machine shop fabrication, advanced troubleshooting on a wide variety of printing and finishing equipment, preventative maintenance, special projects, maintaining adequate parts and supplies and general building maintenance support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Read and understand mechanical drawings in support of day-to-day responsibilities.
+ Machine parts to specifications from drawings, supplied samples or guidance from engineering staff using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders.
+ Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
+ Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
+ Troubleshoots mechanical equipment and systems requiring the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair/replacement of parts and components.
+ Install repaired parts into equipment, or install new equipment.
+ Reviews work requests for mechanical repairs and maintenance, determines nature of problem, and recommends appropriate solution. Prioritizes the repair of equipment to minimize unscheduled downtime. May be called upon to perform work outside of normal schedule shift.
+ Conducts preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventive maintenance as assigned.
+ Routinely observe equipment operation to ensure equipment is operated to manufacturer specifications and generally accepted practices.
+ Act professionally as the Ashton Potter facility maintenance liaison with equipment vendors and contractors.
+ Perform tasks safely and in accordance with Ashton Potter health &safety, attendance and other company policies and procedures. Inform supervision of unsafe conditions or practices.
+ Keep work area clean and organized.
+ Work independently and use time effectively.

This bonus will be paid in two installments: $1,500 will be paid upon successful completion of the background check, and the remaining $1,500 will be paid after 90 days of employment! Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individual must be able to safely operate tow motors after passing Ashton Potter certification.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience in the maintenance of printing and finishing equipment, including offset and envelope presses, sheet variable imaging lines, packaging systems and other basic print finishing equipment is preferred.
+ Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
+ Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and basic electrical problems. PLC experience is a plus
+ Experience in the operation of general shop metal work equipment.
+ Experience in the general trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
+ Knowledge of generally accepted manufacturing maintenance practices, processes and concepts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
REASONING ABILTY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL ABILITY
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. May be called upon to move loaded pallets using manual floor jacks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
