Job DetailsLevelExperiencedJob LocationLextran - Lexington, KYRemote TypeN/APosition TypeFull TimeEducation LevelHigh SchoolSalary Range$25.94 HourlyTravel PercentageNegligibleJob ShiftSwingJob CategoryTransportationEssential Functions$1,000.00 hiring bonus ($500.00 upon successful completion of training and $500.00 after the probationary period)The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician: B-Mechanic is to serve as a vital and valuable asset to a Maintenance Team where your mechanical aptitude abilities will directly impact the quality of ensuring all public transportation vehicles are maintained safely and efficiently.Operates welders, bus lifts, and various types of shop equipmentMust be familiar with both S cam air brakesAssist A- Mechanic by providing the maintenance and service of heavy duty air conditioning systemsElectrical repairs/troubleshooting utilizing bus schematics, wiring diagrams, and a variety of testing equipmentMaintain and repair suspension , steering, and drive line componentsPreventative maintenance and inspections for all equipment such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation, wheel balancing, replacing filters and other vital repairs for the vehiclesSupports Maintenance Supervisors in responding to e.g. ('10-31' or Road Calls) to ensure fleet is ready for serviceOther duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Maintenance supervisorsOther Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain effective communication with all staff to ensure continuity of careAssists with identifying areas for improvement and making constructive changesUnderstands all aspects of the company and keeps abreast of all changing policies and proceduresPerforms all other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Maintenance SupervisorsQualificationsCommunicates effectively (orally and written).Possesses strong analytical, organizational, and detail oriented skills.Demonstrates ability to work on a team.Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of company and customer records.Exhibits credibility, flexibility, and adaptability.Demonstrates capability to strategically plan ahead to meet deadlines and future company needs.Education and Experience Requirements: High School diploma/ equivalent or combination of education and experience To perform required duties and responsibilities for this position(2) years of heavy diesel maintenance/ Mechanic B experience is requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a required Commercial Driver's License (training is provided)Must pass USDOT physical and drug screenPhysical Requirements Essential to Perform the Duties of the Job: Frequently exposed to overhead reaching, pushing/ pulling and gripping toolsMay be required to stoop, bend, kneel or climbOccasionally lifts objects weighing 5-50 lbs. but not limited to 115 lbs.Frequently uses hands/fingers to manipulate parts and equipment by utilizing operating tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, and other tools to successfully perform essential job related tasks on a daily basisFrequently exposed to outside elements of extreme heat and coldMust inspect buses by test driving them on a regular basisOccasionally operates a sit down forkliftFrequently exposed to fumes, odors, hazardous materials, dirt and dust
