Job Description:

Seeking a Head Start Maintenance Technician! The Maintenance Technician is responsible for facility repair and maintenance at multiple Head Start classrooms, facilities and in the central office. Performs preventative maintenance on building air and heat systems. The Maintenance Technician works under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. Candidates must submit applications by 10/25/24 to be considered for first-round interviews.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCETwo years of experience in commercial and/or residential facility maintenance. Must have basic proficiencies in areas including but not limited to; plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, HVAC.Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS Driver qualifications are required for this position. Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years are required.Successful registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division.Candidate must pass pre-employment physical examination.CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESProficient in the use of computers and related information technologies.Demonstrates knowledge of basic maintenance and construction trade procedures.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.Facility Care and Preservation including Remodel/Refurbish Makes needed repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, HVAC and others as assigned.Facilitates moves and moves equipment, classrooms, offices, supplies and playgrounds.Utilizes program work order/purchase order systems according to policies and procedures for equipment, materials and supplies.Maintains agency vehicles. Facilitates painting of agency classrooms and buildings.Performs all tasks related to preventative maintenance of buildings HVAC systems.Supports Maintenance Groundskeeper as needed with grounds maintenance including but not limited to mowing, landscaping, trimming, pruning, planting when necessary.Record Keeping and Monitoring Acquires and possesses working knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, state and federal regulations (including safety), agency policies and procedures and other applicable regulations.Prioritizes and follows through on work orders.Obtains bids for contractual services.Performs back flow testing.Completes sanitation inspections.Performs fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance.Performs Inspections of playground equipment.Complies with MWVCAA safety and personnel policies, including punctuality and attendance.Staff Development and Meetings Participates in team meetings and training including pre-service, new staff orientation, and other staff training days as required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisory duties in this position.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
