Position Summary The Maintenance Technician performs all necessary repairs and preventative maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Manager, to maintain a safe, attractive and efficiently operated hotel. They are responsible for performing other duties as assigned. Maintenance associates have access to guestrooms and property, character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential to this position. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time benefit eligible position. This position must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays based on business needs. Essential Job Functions •Responsible for maintaining the physical structure and grounds of the hotel property in like-new condition, including landscaping, walkways, pool area and fitness room, as directed by Maintenance Manager. •Assign or handle maintenance requests, improvement projects and develop preventative maintenance programs. •Must be able to use two-way radios, telephones, general office equipment and various types of maintenance equipment. •Follow compliance with company standards, safety rules, and health and sanitation regulations. •Have working ability with HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry as needed. •Routinely communicate with the Housekeeping Manager and all other employees on issues of maintaining the property in excellent condition. •Communicate with other hotel staff to accommodate special guest requests. •Comply at all times with brand compliance standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. •Completes pertinent maintenance records and files related to the facility. •Maintain files of and be familiar with all operations manuals and warranty agreements for equipment. •Ensure that pool and fitness center are in compliance with area health codes. •Completes and maintains pool chemical logs (if applicable at property). •Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with Hyatt dress code and wearing a nametag when working. •Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times. •Must be always attentive, courteous and efficient in the dealings with guests, managers and all other employees. •Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel. Work Environment This position will work in all areas of the hotel, including access to occupied guest rooms. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee with or without accommodation to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. •Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear. •Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. •Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. •Ability to stand for long periods of time. •Ability to operate various types of maintenance equipment. Travel Local travel only will be required for this position. Travel for annual training and conferences may be required. Required Education and Experience •Previous hotel or comparable maintenance experience at an establishment such as apartment complex or office building is preferred. •A working ability with HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry is needed, and formal training in at least one of these disciplines is preferred. •Any and all state and local age and licensing requirements must be met prior to operating and handling any hand or power tools, torches, chemicals, etc.. •Must have good verbal and written communication skills. •Able to handle stressful situations, work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize well. •Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic. •Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. •An independent thinker, able to make decisions based upon information gathered from appropriate resources. •Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other Team Members. •Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and proper insurance coverage for business related travel. •Must be fluent in English.
