This includes assisting in installation of new windows, plumbing and fixtures, re-roofing of structures, fence repair and installation, carpet removal and installation, general carpentry painting and drywall. The incumbent performs semi-skilled labor in a field environment and is responsible for maintenance of grounds, buildings, fences and structures at all water and wastewater facilities.This position is open until filled. Examples of Duties
- Operates heavy equipment as needed including tractors, forklifts, and boom truck crane.
- Performs daily preventive maintenance on equipment and tools according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
- Utilizes heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools in order to maintain grounds and make repairs to buildings, facilities, and utilities structures.
- Also performs flagging, tree work, and must work from elevated platforms with boom trucks and forklifts.
- Assists in the renovation, repairs, and modifications of structures, buildings, and facilities as directed.
- Operates heavy equipment for cleaning and resurfacing percolation ponds at wastewater facilities as required by the Department of Environmental Protection and facility operating permit.
- Safe and efficient operation of vehicles, heavy equipment, hand and power tools. (chainsaw, skillsaw, etc. )
Emergency Response County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description. Typical Qualifications Maintenance Technician I - Pay Grade 2 ($16.12-$20.96 )Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
- Two (2) years of experience in semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance or a combination of education and field experience.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record as defined by current insurance carrier.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.
- Forklift and aerial platform certification.
- Must possess or be capable of obtaining within 90 days FEMA ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 NIMS certification.

Maintenance Technician II - Pay Grade 5 ($20.30-$26.40 )Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
- Five (5) years of experience in building maintenance, plumbing, renovation, repair and maintenance of mobile equipment and tools or an acceptable combination of training and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
- Must possess and maintain a valid class A Florida Driver's License with a good driving record as defined by current insurance carrier.
- Masonry certification, confined space training, and CPR certification are preferred
- Forklift and aerial platform certification.
- Must possess or be capable of obtaining within 90 days FEMA ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 NIMS certification.

Supplemental Information Physical Demands
- Heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work requires stooping, bending, climbing, and walking; use of ladders and scaffolding, aerial platforms/mewps.
- Ability to distinguish colors sounds, smells to diagnose issues with buildings and equipment.
Environmental Conditions
- Constant: Works near hazardous conditions, around dust, fumes, and heat.
- Very frequent: Works near powerlines, water and sewer lines and other utilities.
- Frequent: Indoor work. Works in awkward positions to repair equipment.
- Works in an environment where errors on the incumbent part can lead to significant physical or mental consequences for themselves or others.
