St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Maintenance Technician III - Access Control staff member for the Facilities Maintenance Division within our Facilities Management Department whose headquarters are located in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida.

The Facilities Management Department provides comprehensive facilities services including property management and maintenance for all properties and buildings owned by the St. Johns Board of County Commissioners. The department delivers the full spectrum of facilities management services for approximately 2 million square feet of County facilities. These properties range from general administrative offices and judicial facilities to library and recreational facilities. In addition, the department provides in-house small construction services and project management of building repairs and renovations.
The newly selected Maintenance Technician III - Access Control will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Countywide Access Control and Camera Systems.
The ideal Maintenance Technician III - Access Control must possess St. Johns County's core values of compassion, innovation, and trustworthiness and must work well in a collaborative team environment.
As this position is primarily responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Countywide Access Control and Camera Systems specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
* Establishes, maintains, and ensures consistent application of security assignments and codes required to interface with maintenance, access control, purchasing, and inventory functions for the County.
* Performs installation, troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintenance and repair of access control and security programs for facilities and ensures functionality to meet the needs of facility security and operations.
* May assist with the processing and issuance of access control badges for County and other Constitutional Office personnel.?
* Performs daily checks of access control and security systems, troubleshoots, and makes necessary changes in programming and calibration to ensure proper operation of controls and instrumentation.
* Coordinates with Information Systems and outside contractors or vendors to determine and resolve access control and security systems operational issues to ensure proper record management and support maintenance functions.
* Repairs electronic gates and doors.
As a Maintenance Technician III, other tasks include but are not limited to:
* Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building maintenance duties associated with the construction, remodeling, repair, and maintenance of County buildings, structures, and equipment.
* Consults with supervisor and other staff to develop project scope, understand project details, determine job specifications, and ensure proper job completion and customer satisfaction. May purchase materials and other supplies as needed.
* Monitors, checks, and performs preventive maintenance activities to fixtures, equipment and/or associated systems to ensure continued uninterrupted operation.
* Provides assistance to vendors and contractors.
* Completes daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and minor repairs as assigned of doors and locks, video surveillance systems, and other systems as required, and maintains related logs.
* Runs electrical, data, and coaxial cable. Replaces light bulbs.
* Follows established security and safety protocols while working at the Criminal Justice Facility and related buildings.
* Responds to after-hours outages, as assigned.
* Maintains a full-time presence on the job.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidates for the Maintenance Technician III - Access Control are encouraged to apply if they meet the following minimum qualifications:
* Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training or apprenticeship program in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
* A candidate will be designated as a Maintenance Technician I with having one or more years of full-time experience as a as a Building or Facilities Maintenance Technician or equivalent building trade position.
* A candidate may be designated as Maintenance Technician II and placed at pay grade 14 with demonstrated competence and successful work performance at the Maintenance Technician I level, experience and level of competency in the field with five or more years of full-time work experience as a Maintenance Technician I or equivalent position, and the department's demonstrated operational need.
* A candidate may be designated as Maintenance Technician III and placed at pay grade 16 with demonstrated competence and successful work performance at the Maintenance Technician II level, experience and level of competency in the field with eight or more years of full-time work experience as a Maintenance Technician II or equivalent position, and the department's demonstrated operational need.
* Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
* Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills in order to serve others.
* Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
* Must be able to operate a computer.
