POSITION OVERVIEW
Maintain Process Control Hardware and Software for Ascend Performance Materials Chocolate Bayou Site.
TARGETED OUTCOMES
* Complete the Unit Qualification for a Control System Technician.
* Respond to call-outs in the unit being trained in.
* Complete a secondary unit qualification and help with process control support throughout the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Maintain process control computer hardware and software, programmable logic controllers, and other digital systems associated with unit process control systems.
* Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to restore systems to proper operation.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance on these systems.
* Keep accurate troubleshooting logs as well as documentation of normal operational results to be used as a guide to evaluating and troubleshooting systems.
* Assist Production, I/E and other process control/CSG Technicians with troubleshooting and solving problems associated with or related to these systems.
* Assist in the training of Production, I/E and other Process control/CSG Technicians on these systems.
* In conjunction with Engineering/process control, modify hardware and software of existing systems, and install new systems.
* Under the guidance of an area process control Engineer, implement MOC in the area of process control System changes.
* Work with and assist outside vendors and service technicians when they are in the plant performing controls systems maintenance.
* Accomplish safely the prime responsibilities of this job with minimal supervision to accomplish desired results.
* Update documentation including drawings and vendor information on equipment.
* Assist in the development of job plans and HRP's for routine and shutdown jobs.
* Actively participate in unit safety meetings, focus walkthroughs and housekeeping.
* Independently analyze and resolve problems during off hours.
* Provide shift coverage during unit start-ups and turnarounds.
* Assist with efforts to comply with ISA 61511 requirements as well as function interlock testing.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Candidates must meet one of the following prerequisites in order to apply:
1) Associates Degree or better in Computer Science or process control Technology.
or
2) Three (3) years of verifiable experience in process control, process computer maintenance or process control simulation.
or
3) Three (3) years of verifiable I&E experience along with successful completion of 3 semester credit hours of computer programming.
or
4) Three (3) years of unit specific experience as a board qualified processor along with successful completion of 3 semester credit hours of computer programming.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Technical Skills:
* The following technical skills are desired:
* Working knowledge of E-Mail, MS Word and MS Excel, MS Power Point, and database management.
* Experience in software and hardware troubleshooting, making modifications to existing hardware and software and/or new project work experience would be preferable.
* Experience with electronic test equipment, networking (Ethernet, broadband, fiber-optics, Modbus, etc), instrumentation, print reading experience, and electrical power experience.
* Knowledge of Aspen Tech suite of products for process data historians.
* Experience with troubleshooting and resolving DCS and PLC process computer related problems, restoring systems to proper operation, performing routine preventative maintenance on DCS, advanced control and PLC systems, and configuration work (loops, tags, etc.).
* Good working knowledge of electronics, computer hardware (hard drives, I/O boards) and knowledge of various operating system software/programming.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* The ability to communicate and interface effectively with internal/external customers/suppliers.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
