Job Description:
Maintenance Technician for a school building in the Grand Rapids area. 6am - 2:30 M - F $17 - $20 per hour based on experience Responsibilities and requirements for the Maintenance Technician position:
  • Experience in all phases of cleaning and basic building maintenance
  • Ability to be responsible for the daily operation of the school's physical plant
  • Strong customer service skills while assisting and supporting district staff and community members in obtaining and setting up the necessary equipment, furniture, etc. for classroom use, meetings, athletic events, and special programs
  • Support of school activities and the development and implementation of routine cleaning and maintenance protocols
  • Excellent independent work skills which require a minimum amount of supervision
  • Ability to perform daily cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and restrooms
  • Ability to operate and maintain snow removal equipment, salting equipment, and ground maintenance equipment
  • Ability to operate floor scrubbing and or waxing equipment, carpet extraction equipment, and disinfecting equipment
  • Capability to perform basic troubleshooting as well as maintaining tools and equipment
  • Ability and willingness to communicate with and monitor contractors completing repairs
  • Ability to set up and clean up for special activities and events
  • Ability to order and restock materials needed for the upkeep of the school while staying within an assigned budget
  • Ability to inspect building spaces regularly for cleanliness and document any maintenance repairs needed
  • Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours/overtime hours/some weekends
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure building and work environment
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills that support the District's mission
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to proficiently use basic technology (email, calendar) and learn advanced technology (building management system, internal control systems, specialty software, etc.)
  • Help to create and maintain a positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors
  • IPM certification or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned
  • History of good time management and good attendance
  • High school diploma
