Maintenance Technician Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance TechnicianDepartment: MaintenanceReports To: Maintenance Supervisor/ManagerFLSA Status: Non-ExemptJob Summary:The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.Key Responsibilities:
  • Routine Maintenance:
    • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
    • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting:
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in machinery and equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Installation and Upgrades:
    • Assist with the installation, setup, and testing of new machinery and equipment.
    • Implement upgrades and modifications to existing equipment as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts used.
    • Document and report any issues or concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels of maintenance supplies and spare parts.
    • Coordinate with the purchasing department to reorder supplies as necessary.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production.
    • Provide technical support and assistance to other team members as needed.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns.
    • Be available for on-call duties as required.
  • Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance or a similar role.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
    • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
    • Ability to stand, walk, and work in various positions (e.g., crouching, kneeling) for extended periods.
    • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, noisy).
  • Working Conditions:
    • This position requires working in residential and enterprise business environments.
    • The Maintenance Technician may be exposed to loud noises, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials.
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
