MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Installs, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, pipes and electrical systems following specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings using hand tools, power tools, hoist crane and measuring and testing instruments. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variances with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery using rags, brushes and grease guns. May install and repair electrical apparatus. Layout, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment. May install or repair automated machinery. May set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts. May operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Operates welders; ARC, TIG and MIG, drill press. May perform any or all of these tasks depending upon work assignment. Maintain work area in a clean and habitable condition. Observe all safety precautions, rules and regulations. Prior experience in general maintenance skills and operation of equipment.WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
