General Job Description Maintenance Technician $2,500 Sign-on Bonus (Payable after 90 days of Employment) Location: Batavia, OH Department: Maintenance Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Purpose of Position The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of basic maintenance, cleaning, and repair tasks to ensure that the facility remains clean, functional, and safe for employees and visitors. This role supports day-to-day operations by addressing minor mechanical issues, routine upkeep. The position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently to maintain a high standard of facility upkeep. Essential Functions/Responsibilities Maintain and Service HVAC Systems: Perform routine maintenance on HVAC units, including changing filters, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring efficient operation to maintain a comfortable environment. Test and Repair Equipment: Conduct regular testing and repairs on welders, plasma cutters, brake machines, and shears to ensure proper functionality and minimize downtime. This includes tasks such as rebuilding welder leads and diagnosing and repairing equipment malfunctions. Electrical Maintenance: Replace and repair light fixtures, including changing bulbs, ballasts, and troubleshooting electrical issues throughout the facility to ensure a well-lit and safe environment. Groundskeeping: Maintain the exterior grounds of the facility, including trimming, and general upkeep to ensure a clean and presentable outdoor space. Troubleshooting and Preventative Maintenance: Identify potential issues with facility equipment and tools, proactively troubleshoot and repair to prevent larger, costlier breakdowns. Perform regular inspections to identify necessary repairs. Support Facility Operations: Provide hands-on support for various tasks around the facility as assigned, ensuring that production equipment is operational, and the facility is in optimal working condition. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while performing duties, ensuring a safe working environment for both the maintenance team and other employees. General Maintenance: Assist with various other maintenance tasks as needed, such as cleaning, organizing, and addressing minor facility repairs to maintain a high standard of workplace cleanliness and functionality. Other Duties as Assigned: Taking on additional responsibilities as needed to support the operational needs of the facility, ensuring efficiency and contributing to a well-maintained workspace. Experience, and Skills Required Entry-Level Position with Willingness to Learn: This role is suitable for individuals at the beginning of their career who are eager to learn and grow in the field of maintenance and repair. A strong desire to develop new skills and take on increasing responsibilities is essential. Mechanically Inclined: The ideal candidate has a natural aptitude for understanding mechanical systems and equipment. Basic familiarity with hand and power tools, along with a problem-solving mindset, is important for performing routine maintenance and repairs. Ability to Read a Tape Measure: Proficiency in reading and interpreting measurements using a tape measure is required for various tasks, ensuring accuracy in repairs and equipment setup. Ability to Follow Directions: Must be able to understand and execute both written and verbal instructions accurately to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively. Strong Attendance and Reliability: Punctuality and consistent attendance are critical to supporting the facility's daily operations and ensuring that maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner. Basic Electrical Knowledge (Preferred but Not Mandatory): Familiarity with basic electrical systems, such as changing light fixtures or troubleshooting minor issues, is a plus. Experience reading wiring schematics is beneficial but can be learned on the job. Self-Motivation and Initiative: The ability to take ownership of tasks, work independently, and proactively identify and address maintenance needs is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate a strong work ethic and the ability to stay focused on tasks without constant supervision. Attention to Detail: Accuracy and attention to detail are important when performing routine maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure the safety and efficiency of the facility. Teamwork and Communication Skills: While the role requires independent work, candidates should also be able to collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly with supervisors about progress, issues, or concerns. Education High School Diploma/GED Physical Requirements Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods while performing maintenance tasks throughout the facility. Climbing and Bending: Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling are required to access equipment, perform repairs, and maintain cleanliness in hard-to-reach areas. The ability to climb ladders or step stools to access higher areas is also required. Manual Skill: Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to use tools and equipment with precision, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, or other hand tools. Repetitive Motions: Regular use of hands and arms for tasks such as handling tools, operating equipment, and completing repairs. Vision: Must have adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses) to read schematics, operate equipment, and safely complete tasks. Hearing and Communication: Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a noisy environment, especially when operating equipment or working with colleagues. Work Environment: This position involves working in various conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to dust, dirt, heat, cold, and occasionally working at heights or in confined spaces.
