Job Description:

BW Papersystems is looking for a Maintenance Technician who has the ability to perform a wide range of operations related to the installation, repair and maintenance of the general plant, machinery and auxiliaries. In this role the work involves a variety of hand, bench and machine operations that require skill and a thorough knowledge of the machine trade to install, maintain and repair a wide variety of complicated machine tools. Set up and operate typical machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, planer, burring mills, grinders and related equipment to repair or fabricate parts, including ordinary sheet metal work.

Key Responsibilities/Complexities:

* Work from drawings, sketches, manufacturers' machine manuals, plant layout, specifications and instructions to move and install machines and equipment, make repairs and perform general maintenance duties

* Diagnose less complex machine and equipment trouble, tear down unit, repair or replace defective parts or mechanisms, reassemble and try out.

* Assist with the leveling, aligning and securing of machines, equipment and attachments as necessary.

* Install various attachments such as pumps, ducts, motors, tanks, guards, brackets and other accessories.

* Inspects completed repairs, requisitions new parts and equipment.

* Perform plumbing and pipefitting installations to maintain air, water, oil, steam lines and circulating systems, repair toilets, pumps, valves, leaks and drainage systems.

* Perform less complex carpentry and masonry operations in general maintenance of building; pour concrete foundations for machine tools; perform ordinary welding and brazing operations as required.

* Detect defective materials or unusual conditions and report to proper supervision.

* Order cost effective replacement parts and materials.

* Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and orderly condition.

* Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

* Responsible for the proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. Correctly label and date hazardous waste drums and transfer to authorized waste vendor. Recognize spills/leaks and handle as trained and in accordance with company policy.

* Perform other duties as assigned

Job Essentials:

* Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, machine and equipment construction and operation; familiar with various maintenance trades.

* Assist the maintenance team with other facility repairs and maintenance including but not limited to, snow removal, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, HVAC, and cleaning.

* Possess good communication and interpersonal skills; be able to independently solve problems while interacting with various teams and teammates on daily processes and flow.

* Capable of multi-tasking various duties throughout the day.

Basic Qualifications and Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent

* 2+ years of experience working in a hands-on industrial mechanic experience role

* Have the flexibility to work an on-call schedule, due to the needs of the business
