Reports to: Maintenance SupervisorEssential Functions
  • Coordinates with the supervisor for daily task assignments and work orders.
  • Able to communicate and understand simple written and oral instructions.
  • Performs all grounds functions such as cutting grass, tree removal, trimming and planting.
  • Performs tasks such as repairing locks, changing ballasts, hanging drywall, bulletin boards, fixing lockers and other general maintenance items.
  • Operates light-duty equipment (skid steer and forklift).
  • Must have forklift certification or be able to obtain it within six months of employment.
  • Assist with field and turf maintenance.
  • Performs asphalt repairs, removal and replacement.
  • Maintains all vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Reports any issues needing repair to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Possesses the ability to work flexible and non-traditional work hours.
  • Responds to all emergencies as quickly as possible and completes tasks associated with the situation. Examples include but are not limited to: snow removal, water leaks, natural disasters, vandalism.
  • Use all safety measures when performing any maintenance task.
  • Maintains positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Removes snow, and salts walkways, driveways, parking areas and steps needed to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency.
  • Performs any other tasks that may be requested by the maintenance supervisor.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: The individual must be able to perform each essential job duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment and materials used in industrial maintenance; adhering to safety practices; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. The employee is required to have communication skills including the ability to write reports and correspondence consistent with the duties of the job; ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information; the ability to read, analyze and interpret information; and display courtesy and tact with respect to others. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods of industrial cleaning including floor and carpet; basic tools for minor repairs; and safety practices and procedures. ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; and meeting deadlines and schedules. Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others. Work Environment The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
