Wieland is hiring a Maintenance Tech. The Maintenance Tech will be responsible for working together with and/or leads the operating crew to minimize downtime and to maximize productivity, making the basic decisions on how a mechanical repair is to proceed and perform quality repairs the first time, leading the completion of more complicated and specialized mechanical and fluids repair tasks, working with the production team for constant improvement, and performing administrative duties as assigned including completion of work order documentation and data entry into the computerized maintenance system. It is expected the Maintenance Tech will be competent in performing equipment repairs to varied mechanical and fluids systems including changing problem components and performing preventive maintenance on these systems. This role is located in East Alton, IL and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $39.83/hourly

Responsibilities

What you'll do

Wieland currently has an immediate need for a Maintenance Tech to minimize downtime and to maximize productivity. The Maintenance Tech will additionally be responsible for making the basic decisions on how a mechanical repair is to proceed, perform quality repairs the first time, as well as leading the completion of more complicated and specialized mechanical and fluids repair tasks. This role will reside at our East Alton, IL facility.

Starting Pay: $39.83/hour

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

Schedule: Rotating Swing Shift

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    The ideal candidate will be competent in performing equipment repairs to varied mechanical and fluids systems including changing problem components and performing preventive maintenance on these systems.
  • Works together with and/or leads the operating crew to minimize downtime and to maximize productivity
  • Responsible for making the basic decisions on how a mechanical repair is to proceed and perform quality repairs the first time
  • Responsible for leading the completion of more complicated and specialized mechanical and fluids repair tasks
  • Work with the production team for constant improvement
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned, including completion of work order documentation and data entry into the computerized maintenance system
Qualifications

What you'll need

  • Minimum of five years' heavy industrial/maintenance experience or a four-year apprenticeship certification required
  • Experience with mounting and setting equipment (rigging experienced desired), repairing mechanical transmission equipment, repairing fluid power systems, general equipment breakdown maintenance, and heavy equipment experience is required
  • Experience with large drive train systems including gearboxes, drive spindles, and sleeve bearings is required
  • Welding experience is a plus
  • Experience operating manual conventional lathes, boring mills, conventional mills, and all related machine shop equipment is required
  • Understanding of infrared, acoustics and other predictive maintenance practices is considered a plus
  • Manual and CNC machining skills are a plus
