Position Title: Maintenance Technician I

Compensation:

Full-time, Non-Exempt (NE30) commensurate with experience.

Scope & Responsibilities of Maintenance Technician I: (Not limited to)

This position is responsible for maintenance of plant equipment and facilities to ensure consistent, uninterrupted operation. Individuals in this role conduct general repairs and maintain replacement parts inventory, as well as complete preventative maintenance activities.

  • Perform maintenance on plant equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, sensors, etc. and fabricates or repairs parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines as needed.
  • Conduct general facilities maintenance including general repairs, electrical wiring, minor plumbing, and hardware.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electromechanical issues with plant and/or facility equipment.
  • Programs PLCs utilizing ASCII control systems; authors limited programming code for operating machinery and automation solutions.
  • Determines and performs preventative maintenance schedules; maintain service logs and records.
  • Coordinates with outside service providers and vendors as needed to facilitate service and/or repairs.
  • Prices and requisition new supplies, equipment and/or replacement parts.
  • Manages tasks, projects, and time to find effective solutions for problems.
  • Operates forklift, uses tools and/or equipment and conducts work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Understand and follow OSHA lockout/tagout regulations and open line/entry permit requirements.
  • Performs other duties assigned by Supervisor and completes all company and/or mandated training programs.

Education & Experience for Maintenance Technician I:

  • High School graduate or GED with associate degree in maintenance or engineering technology.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in a high-speed production environment required.
  • Knowledge of ladder logic and PLC programs is desired.

Other Qualifications of Maintenance Technician I:

  • Familiarity and understanding of finished lubricant products preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle drivers license.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and basic office technologies including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applicable software.
  • Successfully train, operate and maintain forklift certification.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal and external colleagues.

Physical & Cognitive Demands of Maintenance Technician I:

COGNITIVE DEMANDS: includes the ability to meet deadlines, focus attention, work independently or within a team, communicate effectively, read and comprehend, interpret information, organize, think critically, and troubleshoot.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: seeing, speaking, hearing, smelling, kneeling, stooping, sitting, walk/climb/crawl, stand/reach, listen, writing, physical coordination, driving, climbing, twisting/bending, depth perception, assembling parts, keyboarding, push/pull/lift/carry or otherwise transport 50 pounds.

Demonstrate physical ability and skill to climb, enter vessels through man ways and work in elevated locations or confined spaces.

Work in various indoor and outdoor environments in extreme heat or cold with exposure to hazardous materials.

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.

Able to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) and use all types of respiratory equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

May be required to work overtime, holidays, weekends, scheduled time off and/or shift work as required to support plant operations.
