Job Duties
Serve Virginia's veterans and their dependents of the Commonwealth by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through service and sacrifice. Directly reports to the Cemeteries Deputy Director. Responsible for all of the operational equipment maintenance and repairs for all gas/diesel equipment and hand tools in all three Virginia Veterans Cemeteries (Amelia, Dublin, and Suffolk), primarily stationed in Suffolk. Responsible for the Amelia, Dublin, and Suffolk cemetery maintenance shop areas and maintenance compounds. Responsible for the maintenance of facilities and irrigation systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be capable to understand and operate all cemeteries equipment.
Must have the ability to diagnose and complete all necessary repairs in a timely manner.
Must be skilled in facilities maintenance and irrigation repair.
Must be able to effectively communicate within all levels of the cemeteries organization.
Must be task-oriented having the ability to train other employees on equipment, tools and
irrigation systems.
Required to maintain a neat and presentable appearance while working during extreme weather conditions.
Must perform tasks with minimal to no supervision.
This position requires 25% travel to Amelia and Dublin.
Additional Considerations
High school education/GED, automotive and equipment maintenance experience. Must be qualified to train employees to maintain and operate equipment and irrigation systems. The position requires a Valid Virginia driver's license.
