How you will make history here
The Maintenance Technician will maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and processes supporting production activities associated with the Pilot Plant and R&D Operations. This includes execution and coordination of preventive and corrective maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies for enhancement of existing assets. In addition, the individual will oversee contractors in support of capital improvements, ensure accurate machine configuration on a scheduled basis, as well as accurate record keeping of maintenance activities.
What you will do
* Performs set-ups and changeovers of all machines in accordance with schedule demands.
* Provide support to operations in running machines at centerline conditions, standard speeds etc. to maximize productivity. Maintain spares as needed to insure that equipment is available when required.
* This position troubleshoots processes and has the ability to diagnosis mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical issues associated with process equipment.
* Technicians will be expected to take and active role in learning the equipment, process and systems. Participate in Safety Program and organizational improvement teams (Safety Committee, Quality Improvements, Production/Cost Reduction teams)
* Actively share their knowledge to train/mentor other team members, including both maintenance and operations to foster their development, including required safety training, control systems and troubleshooting capabilities as required.
* Job duties may also include fabricating parts, operating machining equipment such as lathes, grinders and welders.
Principal Accountabilities:
40%- General maintenance tasks as assigned
30%- Support production activities through machine and process configuration and changeover. Troubleshoot by determining root cause and steps to eliminate reoccurrence.
10%- Assist in project implementations through contractor scheduling and oversight.
10%- Documentation of work tasks associated with equipment, systems, and processes within the Computer Maintenance & Management System
10%- Support & deliver safety requirements
Troubleshooting:
* Machine interface is not responding. Must be able to determine fault (i.e. bad screen, communication hardware, communication software, software configuration
* Steam injection system not maintaining proper temperature. Must be able to determine cause and plan to resolve issue expeditiously. Utilize knowledge of temperature measuring device, PLC, temperature control valve.
* Retort time and temperature not responding to controller. Must be able to determine which component in the system has failed (i.e. RTD, pneumatic valve, PLC)
* Can line system to be reconfigured to produce 303 x 500 size containers. Changeover production equipment to guarantee expected product specifications and food safety requirements.
* -Take an existing machine, in this case filler, and modify design, controls, to suit Plant applications. Develop PM plan and perform necessary maintenance as part of installation and commissioning process.
* Power outage has caused software and machine outages. Must be able to identify impacted equipment and as necessary locate most recent copy of application and reload into machine interface or PLC to continue operation.
* -Detailed record keeping of all preventive and corrective maintenance activities on a daily basis. These activities must meet or exceed USDA, FDA and Process Safety regulations.
* -Develop and lead training activities in reference to safety programs for Plant and Operations employees in conjunction with Safety/QA Manager.
What you bring to the table
* HS Diploma or equivalent with some college level studies
* 5 years' experience working in a manufacturing facility

* Proficient understanding and application of mechanical and electrical principals relating to food manufacturing systems. Thorough knowledge of food processing and equipment operation strategies. Computer skills to leverage Computer Maintenance Management System.

Working Conditions:
Plant food manufacturing environment, less than 5% travel -While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$56,700-$81,500
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
